12wk scan - photo to take home?

It's my 12wk scan tomorrow morning and I am trying to take away the morbid thoughts and anxiety away by concentrating on the good things Smile

Just one question I can't find answers for - if we are lucky enough to get a healthy baby on screen I understand many hospitals also give you the option that you can buy a printout of it, is that correct from other peoples experience? Just wondered if anyone could indicate roughly how much I can expect that to be? Just so I've got enough money on me!

It's an nhs scan I'm getting at Southend hospital in Essex.

Any response welcome, thankyou!

I had to pay £10 too. I did get about 5 pics on 12 week and about 7 at 20 but when I had ds 3 yeats ago it was £5.

have a look on your appointment letter as it gave details on mine

A friend of mine was moaning about how much hers cost seeing as they were a bit rubbish. I'd just had a private one so the pics were much clearer and she said "I can't believe you got loads for free, bloody nhs". Umm, yes but I paid the company £120 for the scan Grin

Grin

I have booked a private scan next week for reassurance (after a nasty bleed last week) and to find out the gender! I'm so excited! We have got a full 30 minute session booked and alongside that we get two photos and only cost us £60.

I had my scan at Southend. Now 27 weeks. I think it was £5 per photo. but we got more than one for £5. 12 week scan an amazing experience x

writer another bleed? Gosh, you are having a rough time of things. Hope it's plainer sailing for now (have namechanged - I think - since then but I was on many threads with you from the early weeks bemoaning the general sickness and feeling crap!).

Great to hear another at Southend Grin

I couldn't go down the route of private scans or I'd want one everyday!

£4 per photo and we needed to buy a token from a machine so had to have pound coins as there is no where to get change

Yes actually I wish they would warn you that you needed pounds coins. I bet a lot of people are dissapointed, it's not always easy toget change in a hospital.

I can't believe how things vary over the country.

I'm Aberdeen. All free, although there is a notice up saying they appreciate all donations. Got about 7 at my 12 week scan (took 4 attempts to get baby in correct position for measurements) and got 3 at my 20 week scan.

But from what I can tell at these forums is that most people get an option to know their scan through the NHS. We're not given that option. So if you want to know boy or girl we would have to get a private scan.

My hospital just gave me my photo and then asked for a donation in a pot so I put £2 in.
