When did they start giving scans and telling you the sex?

I'm just interested to know. I know they didn't when my mother was pregnant in 79, so when did they start?

I don't know a definite answer but they didn't when my mum was pg with me in 87 but in 1992 when she was pg with my brother they did. X

I was born in 79 (Jan) and my mum had lot sof scans with me, they didn't tell the gender tho. She was at an RAF hospital and the scanningmahcine was new and they were wanting to use it tho, it wasn't common place in most hospitals.

Its been around since the 60's, not routinrly used until late 80's tho.

They wont tell you the sex of the baby at our normal NHS scans here - you would have to go for a private one to find out.

my mum had no scans in 81 with my oldest sis, loads of scans in 84 with middle (for no reason other than they could) 1 with me in 87. couldn't know the sex though!

I got one scan with my pregnancy 10 years ago but it was hospital policy not to state the gender.

Not allowed to tell what gender was.... Told my mum what sister wasn't!

My mam was offered this when pregnant with me in 88, but she wanted a surprise!

My mum was pregnant with my brother in 79 - I was only 4, so my memory is fuzzy, but I'm sure she knew it was a boy then. I remembering asking if I was getting a sister and sulking when I was told I wasn't!
