When did you set crib/moses basket up?

I'm 31 weeks now so it's too early to set up the baby's crib yet but when did/will you do yours?

I need to wash the bedding I've bought and don't want to be on the last minute but don't want it getting dusty while waiting.

Well you can always wash it and then put it away in the airing cupboard or chest of drawers. It shouldn't get dusty there.

We opened the moses basket mattress packaging at 39 weeks (just to let it air so it didn't smell of new mattress). Made up the basket itself when we came home from hospital - it doesn't take more than a couple of minutes.

PumpkinPie2013 im 35 weeks and have opened my moses basket up washed all the covers already i dont like the new plastic smell so its set up and ready crib got built earlier to check it was all okay so we unboxed that and built that around 20 weeks but not put the bedding on that yet ive washed all the bedding and put it away so its all ready to go i like you didnt want to leave it till the last moment to get things ready gl :)

With dd1 we washed the bedding etched but everything stayed in her room until she came home from hospital.
With dd2 we placed things around the house at around 34ish weeks. There's only 15 months difference and I wanted to get her used to the idea she couldn't play, climb in, push things over etc as it was for the new baby.
It all worked quite well I think!
Dc3 is due in May and I'm not sure what approach we'll take. Probably a mixture of both.

Mine's washed and in a cupboard (35w tomorrow).

It takes about ten seconds to put the sheet etc on a Moses basket so it doesn't need doing until baby comes home.

With pfb I excitedly made up the beds at around this stage and had to wash all the sheets again as they got dusty. Really not worth the hassle!

Put the sheets on once for a lovely practice, maybe take a photo, then put them away until needed.

I've just done mine this morning and I'm 39+1!!

Wash the bedding and put away. Probaby best to take out of plastic near due date. Saves getting it dusty and doing it all again. Ull b too busy with baby xxx

I'm 30+5 and we've just bought a stand for the travel cot, a cot bed, mattresses and some bedding. Put the cot bed together but won't open the mattress or other stuff for a good few weeks yet as I don't want it getting dusty and covered in cat!

When the baby was about 10 hours old - and it was in the washer again by the time the baby was 24 hours old

I made that very mistake. I set it up at about 32 weeks and now it's dusty :( I was just really excited about it, but regret doing it now! I'm 37+6 now and wish I had waited until maybe 38 weeks?

yeah set up moses basket and the cot is built but not taking plastic off cot mattress till baby needs it, probably months away!!

Moses basket was born when ds was about a week old. I was still in hospital at that point.

With DD1 we set everything up at around 36 weeks, good job though as she arrived at 38+2! With DD2 and DS, we left it until later, nearer due date. Typically they were both overdue . Thinking about it I might set it all up earlier again this time, might encourage baby to come earlier lol!

I am 26 weeks and we have started decorating our DDs necessary. We should have everything done by end October when I will be about 30/31 weeks. We have already bought necessary furniture. I won't be putting bedding down till much later. We will have to cot in our room built by 34 weeks at latest.. It's our first, can you tell?

I'm 33 weeks with DS1 and the nursery is nearly done, the crib has been built and necessary furniture purchased. We still need to hang some picture frames and hooks. I've put the mattress in the crib without the plastic wrapping and placed the protector on top.

The moses basket will be delivered next Friday but I won't wash the bedding for a good four / five weeks. We're planning on having the Moses basket in our room but I won't bring that in until he's been born. :)

I will also wash all his clothes and blankets etc but not for a few weeks. It's all so exciting!

Yes Kate it was wonderful, thank you. Still away but its great to be MrsP and all I can say is "it feels so right". I am on a bit of a high at the moment if that makes any sense. Thanks for you note on the thread. I have kept up to date but its so contentious I don't want to engage whilst on honeymoon.

Thanks for all the suggestions The crib is pretty much set up as you just hook the crib part onto the stand and the mattress is in but not unwrapped so pretty organised

At about 31 wks because that's when it came back from the friend we lent it too. DD is 22 months and needs some time to get accustomed. She was born in a hurry at 36 weeks so I want to be ready just in case DC2 is earlier.
Also the house is on the market, it's more convenient to set up the Moses Basket than hide it in the loft as I'm too fat ungainly to fetch it out again later.

Dd is 3 weeks old. Just put Moses basket in garage, she only slept in it 4 times. Wish I hadn't bothered buying it.
