buy baby clothes? im 10 weeks with my first. I have no idea when to start buying baby clothes or anything baby related! I did buy some maternity clothes for work but thats it!
space is a small issue at the moment so buying cots and changing stations has to wait. just wondering about clothes.

Im 23 weeks. I've had to get maternity clothes due to my size.

I just realised i haven't bought anything for the baby, normally i bought stuff after 20 weeks but seem to missed that this time!

I'm currently 14+5 weeks but shall only probably start buying maybe after Xmas. I don't know why but I keep telling myself something awful is good to happen Blush stupid I know. I feel like I'm going to curse myself if I start buying too early.

cravingcake · 27/09/2013 15:48

First time round i started buying clothes & blankets etc after 24 weeks. Not all at once, just a pack of vests or something i liked when i saw them at a good price. We went buggy, nursery furniture and car seat shopping around 24 weeks and ordered it all a couple of weeks later as some stuff can take a few weeks to arrive.

This time i brought a baby grow straight after my 20 week scan as we found we are expecting a girl (already have a boy) and i wanted something specifically for this baby.

Oceansurf · 27/09/2013 15:51

First baby, ooh. About 20 weeks (after the main scan)

This baby. I doubt I will buy anything until a week before it's due Grin

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 27/09/2013 15:54

I'm 30 weeks and I started buying things last week.

I'll be buying most big things on my next payday,as I need to use Novembers pay for Xmas as baby #3 is due on the 6th December...

Otherwise I'd probably have waited for November to start buying anything.

JoinTheDots · 27/09/2013 15:55

About a week before I gave birth!

purrpurr · 27/09/2013 15:55

I went out and bought a pack of three bodysuits from Next when I was about 8 weeks, just for the joy of it. There was pressure from The World At Large to not buy ANYTHING and not tell ANYONE until I was 12 weeks, it's all a bit miserable really. And I knew that if I had miscarried, I would need instant support, not, 'oh well you're not allowed to tell anyone but I was pregnant, and now I'm not, so' having to explain.

As a nod to the general hysteria re: buying before the scan I carefully folded the bodysuits up and put them in a small unit inside my wardrobes, which also houses my wedding accessories, so it was special things alongside special things.

I am hoping baby clothes are going to magically appear out of the blue from generous friends and relatives in the form of hand-me-downs and gifts. I will probably panic and bulk-buy some white babygros just before I am due!

Andanotherthing123 · 27/09/2013 17:01

I have a loft load of clothes for each gender from my two DS and sister's DDs and a garage with cot, pram, car seat, so no buying needed. But I'm 21 weeks and today I did treat myself to a lovely velour baby gro in white and a nappy changing bag. I found myself smiling all the way to the car and having an emotional 'chat' with baby driving home about how much I am looking forward to meeting them and how much I love them.

Congrats on your baby - if you feel you want to buy stuff, just go for it! (N.B this is advice from an emotional, soppy, pregnant woman!).

princesscupcakemummyb · 27/09/2013 19:29

after my 12 week scan i started buying for baby

Phineyj · 27/09/2013 19:36

Mine certainly did quod - I was deluged with stuff - but I did buy vests and bibs as no-one seems to pass those on (I expect they wear out).

Keep the stuff in its packets OP and you can always return it if you don't need it.

HotCrossPun · 27/09/2013 19:55

I'm planning on starting to buy things after my 20 week scan in a few weeks.

I can't wait. It still doesn't seem real!

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 27/09/2013 20:05

We started buying things after the 12 week scan, we have had miscarriage before so kind of in a limbo state until after that had gone okay. Car boots are brilliant for cheap baby gear, especially clothes - lots of things that have only been a couple of times and they just need a good wash usually. Also check out nct nearly new sales - you dont have to be an nct member - great bargains!

we still havent got everything we need at 32 weeks, I havent started my hospital bag, but you dont need to go mad to start with. Friends and family will buy you lots of stuff for newborns, then you will wish you had saved your money for when they are six
Months!
