Is it worth buying one of those tommy tippee nappy bin thingies?

I have a toddler who'll be 22m by the time baby is born in November so we'll be changing two babies a day which means loads more nappies.

Do these bins stink a room out? Are they worth it?

Sorry, it wasn't ebay, it was Amazon, but the refill roll is made by a company called Wrapooh, and they sell their rolls on various sites. Here is there own website. www.wrapooh.com/ but just google Wrapooh. I found the refill roll that they say is equal to 10 cassettes was more like 15.

Interesting replies!

I also throw pooey nappies in the outside bin and wet ones in the kitchen or upstairs pedal bin. The thing is, I know my breast milk makes my babies poo more and I don't want to be constantly going into the front garden during the winter throwing nappies in the bin.

Thanks HandMini, I've just had a look at the wrapooh refills and the angel care system and it seems worth it to me, even for a few months just until the baby gets into a regular routine of one or two poo's a day.

DH is incharge of bins in our house so I'm sure he'd find a way to dispose of the nappy sausage...can't you tip the container upside down into a black bin bag? Or take the whole container outside and tip into green bin?

You just tie up the end of the poo sausage and put the entire poo sausage into your bin / black bag. One of the other advantages is that you really don't have to use individual nappy bags for each nappy (unless its a real squelcher).

We use ours without the liners, just stick a normal bin liner inside it, found it really helpful. Especially in an upstairs flat where taking nappies out to the bin one by one just isn't an option.

We weren't going to bother with one but when we found out we are having twins we decided to get one. Our house is a bit upside down and the only room downstairs is the kitchen (with an integral garage) so we decided that running downstairs and outside every time there were dirty nappies was going to be a bit much, especially when one of us is on our own with two babies. I think we got the tommee tippee one (twins due in 7 weeks so not used yet) but we got which ever one was the best deal at kiddicare when we were there. Also got a load of refills on offer, but I will be looking in to the Wrapooh refills now!

See, pedal bins will stink with a pooey nappy, so I'm not sure that that's a fair comparison. A proper nappy bin with a tight fitting lid doesn't. I think those systems get away with seeming a lot less smelly just because they are being compared to something not designed for the job.

Not saying you shouldn't got ahead and get one OP, just that they perhaps come off better in an unfair comparison.

I love ours and wouldn't be without it, easier to use one-handed than nappy sacks and contains smells really well. I buy the refills when on offer and it doesn't work out too bad. Poo sausage gets removed twice a week.

I had mine free from Amazon when I bought a pack of refills, it may have been a special offer when I joined Amazon family.

Yes we love ours. Its a complete non essencial but its just one of those things that make life easier. If you can afford it, have it, however if not it really isn't life changeingly amazing. Its still just a bin :) xx
