Everything im reading says in 3rd trimester you should increase your calories by an extra 500 per day.

Up until now I have just ate what I always have and am full after eating.

Should I start eating more now?, im currently 26+4.

How did you increase your calories?

Did you change how you were eating?

I haven't, I'm 33 weeks and have been eating what I normally eat sometimes a lot less depending on how bad my heartburn isHmm

With my last pregnancy I had sickness all the way thru so was probably only having very little calories during the day.....the midwife said my baby was going to be on the small side, he was 8lb 3Smile.

I haven't either. I'm 34 weeks and find it hard to find anything I want to eat.

You should avoid 'empty calories' though. Don't get them up by eating sweet stuff. Try dairy, nuts etc. Good, boring stuff.

I've put on 30 pounds so I don't think he'll be starving anytime soon.

Just eat what you feel you need. Listen to your body. Learn those instincts!!

Hi - I'm getting to the end of my 3rd trimester and this is the most I have eaten throughout my pregnancy. I think more down to boredom than anything else!

The NHS says: "pregnant women...only need to have an extra 200 calories a day in the last three months of their pregnancy."
www.nhs.uk/news/2010/July07/Pages/new-nice-guidelines-weight-pregnancy.aspx

So it really isn't that much. But as above posters say, eat what you need to maintain energy etc.

I've been rubbish, I used to love cooking but now enjoy the eating aspect far more...today I've eaten (judge me as you will) a cup of tea and a pineapple (why?!) milk shake made with fresh pineapple, cream and milk....

Will now make a pasta bake with yet more cream, cheese, mushrooms and pancetta. Yes I'm aware my diet sucks today, yes I'm aware that dairy isn't even that good for you and yes I'm aware that I'm basically eating sugar, refined carbs and fat...I promise to eat salad at some point - how ironic that I was vegan in my first trimester....honestly he's growing really well and is super healthy but my rear end is looking a bit beyonce!

Having said all of this I still can't eat anything after 6ish as I feel really, really nauseous and often vomit.

I have to admit to a really bad diet in my 3rd trimester Blush all I seem to want is chocolate and cake, and can I have chocolate with that cake? I make sure I get the goodness of veggies in too though, however since falling fruit just hasn't done it for me whereas before I was eating lots of it. I am 30+4 and have put on 2 1/2 stone whilst carrying twins. It is all bump though, from the back and front views my shape hasn't changed but side on I have a full term 'singleton' bump, I am carrying 7lbs worth of baby already though plus the extra placenta, fluid and blood who am I trying to convince Wink. As katebakes says judge me as you will, my midwife is happy with my weight gain etc so I'm not concerned. I was a 14/16 before falling though so wasn't tiny before hand.

Oh I should say I have got to point where I can't really fit much in anymore though so its little amounts instead.
