Sugar in urine :(

I am 24 weeks pregnant and just had my midwife appointment. My urine test showed I have some sugar in it and need to go back in 4 weeks to see if I still do then. If so, I will need further tests to see if it's gestational diabetes :(

Did anyone else have sugar in urine and turn out negative for the gestational diabetes or if anyone else has it should I be worried?

Everything has gone so smoothly so far so something was bound to pop up sooner or later Hmm

Hi, I have had a bit of glucose in my urine at 25 and 29 week appointments and both times the midwife has been unconcerned as I had no family history or other symptoms. My MW did ask me if I had eaten/drunk anything sugary that day (which I had almost without realising - pregnancy has given me a very sweet tooth). Try to eat healthily and not worry too much :-)

I had this last week. I had eaten nothing but erm.. sweet rubbish before hand so unless it comes up again I am not too concerned as I have no other risk factors.

Not in my urine but at my last blood test as 28 weeks I showed a high level of sugar Hmm, I had to have a glucose test the next day. Thankfully the results were fine but that'll teach me for having a Greggs sandwich and hot chocolate for lunch.

I'm 36 weeks and every single hospital and midwife appointment has shown sugar in my urine but my GTT at 28 weeks came back at negative for diabetes. My midwife said that it's normal for some women, I also had it in my previous pregnancies but again no diabetes :)

I had this at 25 weeks, get retested next week to see if they find it again. The midwife really didn't sound overlly concerned about it though. Although it is an indicator for diabetes she seemed to think plently of people have a small ammount of glucose in their urine for no real or sinister reason. Fingers crossed this applies to us both!

Thank you, this has reassured me somewhat Smile now I can TRY and not worry about it so much until my next appointment at least! I have everything crossed that I don't have it. I did actually have some sweets last night that my husband brought back from Madrid and orange juice this morning so maybe it could be that, I hope so anyway!

Hi op - I was the reverse - I never had any symptoms at all, nothing in my urine etc, but when I had my GTT it came back positive the very same day.

It's not all bad, my diet has really improved and I'm practically at my pre-pregnancy weight even though I'm 37 weeks on Thursday!

The only problem with GD is if it is I diagnosed and uncontrolled. I currently have no excess sugar in my diet and when choosing foods I have to check that the carbs (of which sugars) level is less than 10g per 100g. I also have to test my blood sugars every day (3-4 times daily) which can be a nuisance but it's all for baby. Who I will hopefully get to meet very very soon !! Smile
