Hi everyone,

I am new to this (-:

I have just discovered I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have telephoned the doctors and they can't book me in until 3rd October - is this okay or do I need to ask for an urgent appointment. Do any of you ladies know when to expect my first antenatal appointment?

Thank you xx

You might not need to see the doctor at all - I would see if you can book in directly with the midwives.

Usually your first midwife appoint it at around 10 weeks, and then they'll book you in for a scan at around 12 weeks.

Congratulations Op. Can you get your booking in appointment organised via your GP? This is normally your first midwife appointment and is nor, ally at 8 weeks. It's your midwife that you need to see rather than the GP. Congratulations again Flowers

Congratulations! All surgeries are different but that sounds fine. I didn't have to see a doctor, my first appointment was with the midwife at 10 weeks then I got a letter in the post for my 12 week scan.

Unless you have any worries you don't need a urgent appointment. In some areas you can just refer yourself to the midwife and then have a booking appointment about 8-10 weeks.
Congratulations!

Thank you so much for your responses.
I will give the midwives a call and see what they say xx

You don't really need to see a GP at all, they will just refer you to the midwives so if you can do that yourself in your area then that's easier. You will have a booking appointment at about 8-10 weeks where they will ask lots of questions and take your blood pressure etc, you might have your first bloods taken at this appt too. Then you should get a letter through for your scan.

Congratulations [flower]
