Am I in early labour?

I've been having braxton hicks since 18 weeks this pregnancy (no2) and everything was different last time around as I was induced as soon as labour started. I'm getting braxton hicks (tightenings) every 8mins, associated with minor minor niggle in my back. It's not a contraction as I remember from before. Do you think I should call my midwife at 9 and see what she thinks? I don't want to drive to my hospital as its a way a way and I have my little girl that I would need to organise, and I'm certainly not in full blown labour but not sure I should be sending my husband to work (30mins in opposite direction to hospital) where the cars going into the garage for some work!! Would feeling for my own cervix help my decision? Xx

Sorry no answers really, other than I thought I was having Braxton hicks at 30 weeks and turned out to be early labour and had to have medication to stop it and steroids. So if I were you I would call the midwife xx

How far along are you?

I think there's a rule of thumb about more than x BH in an hour needs investigation. Are they sore of painless? Any pain in BH does need investigating - it could just be a urinary tract infection.

Call your midwife for a chat.
