Hi all,

I usually have a really clear complexion but since entering my 2nd trimester my face is covered in pimples, tiny little white heads under the surface and is extremely greasy. I use Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser and a light moisturiser but think I may need to change my routine - can anyone advise me on a pregnancy cleansing beauty regime or products that might work?

Thanks
Coco

Hi Coco
I had a pimply forehead from the start of my second trimester (aggravated by the hot weather I think) but at 29 weeks it has cleared. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but from what I've heard these types of problems are caused by hormonal fluctuations, that you can't really scrub away/ use 'skin deep' solutions to combat. As your hormones right themselves your skin should return to normal. x

Hi
I've had the same problems - it was so bad I thought I had impetigo!! I have found a solution though: I went kiehls and asked their advise. I got a product called skin rescuer and it works by minimising skin stress and also stops hormones affecting your skin. It's really clearing my skin up well. The difference is amazing. I got a nice cleanser / toner too but I think that was just indulgent!!!

Hope this helps!!! X

Thank you both - will look into kiehls and if that doesn't work I'll look forward to week 29! Thanks again. xx

I've been having terrible skin issues & have no beauty routine to speak of (faaar too lazy for make up etc) BUT found that after I'd been out on a carb controlled diet for other reasons which have forced me to only be on water my skin has really sorted itself out.
I wasn't eating too much rubbish before so I do think it's the water and not cutting out any 'treats' I might have had-but who knows!

I'm like you with normally good skin- went to pot towards end of first trimester. I bought Herbalism cleanser from Lush- it is about £6.95, a green thick paste in a pot. Full of lovely calming stuff, it took about 1- 2 days to see a result and now about 5 weeks later my skin is still ace! Highly recommend it! I use it once a day in shower in the morning. It's so gentle but very powerful!

I love lush products but avoided them because I was worried about the concentration of essential oils etc. Having said that everyone in store assured me they were perfectly safe. I have since used the love lettuce mask which was great.

I have used so many products and researched the safety of everything. Here goes:

Sudocream is fab. It just is and it's safe. It's antibacterial and cheap and effective. I sometimes slather a thick layer and sleep with it. Your skin will at first feel flaky and then settle.

Belli skin care - I bought this when in the USA. The face wash is pretty good as is the tinted moisturiser but not sure it's available here.

Simple: again it's cheap and won't irritate your skin and it's safe.

Weleda: it's a bit more expensive but it's safe and won't upset anything.

Mama mio: currently using the facial wash and moisturiser. Pretty pricy but worth it. My skin is looking lovely :)

Really appreciate all recommendations ladies - need to rush to the shops asap .... walked past Claudia Schiffer in all 40 something her luminous glory the other day on the street and that did not help the low skin self esteem so feeling motivated - thanks again all! X

I also have the dreaded pregnancy skin, and just last night gave my face a wee swipe with listerine over the spotty areas after washing my face! Spots have dried up already! Amazing stuff, got amazing fresh breath too ;)
