M&S non-existent bras!

So, nearly 30 weeks and decided to start investigating the hospital bag (previous preemie), was in town yesterday so thought I'd nip into M&S and see what they had in the way of nursing bras. Answer: nothing. Not one single solitary nursing or maternity bra! The assistants told me that they still sell them but no longer stock them, so they could order some in for me. What on earth is the point of that?! Who buys nursing bras without trying them on?! The assistants agreed wholeheartedly with me but seemed resigned to their employers making silly decisions. They agreed when I said M&S, despite their protestations, are clearly aiming for a target customer base of an age where maternity-related items are irrelevant. Is it any wonder they're seen as a bit of a confused brand these days?!

that's strange, in my M&S (which is not even very big) they have a very decent selection of pregnancy/nursing bras. I bought a bunch there and they're quite good, imo.

so maybe it's the manager of your local M&S who's to blame, rather the brand itself?

Maternity clothes too! I went to three stores in London and they all told me I had to go online. Swines. I drag my sorry, fat arse all the way to the UK pretty much to go shopping (and see family I suposse but mostly shopping) and they tell me to go online! Grrrr.

I was amazed at no maternity clothes in M&S too. And i probably would have gone in there in a couple of months to look at feeding bras.

But now OP has pointed out the demographic of M&S i am less surprised about the maternity clothes. I wouldn't go shopping there for normal clothes or bras to be honest. Why is it now i'm pregnant i am assuming they have what i need? Because now i think about it i do see M&S as being aimed at the 50s and overs.

Well I see M&S as a public service so I was furious lol.

They sell nursing bras in my local (and fairly small) store, but they don't sell maternity tights - despite selling about a billion different varieties.

The nursing bras they sell are revolting looking though...

I love m&s and I'm not even nearly 50! Ours is v small though so no mat clothes. I did recently tramp all round Edinburgh for a maternity dress and found nothing- every single shop said to go online!

MrsPatMustard · 23/09/2013 20:08

There's not a single shop in my local town that sells any kind of maternity clothes. It's bloody ridiculous. And I totally agree - nobody can buy a maternity bra without trying it on....

HeffalumpTheFlump · 23/09/2013 20:20

My store stocks maternity bras, you have a choice of three Hmm

Whilst I was trying them on I heard a lady speaking with one of the bra fitters, asking about front fastening bras. The bra fitting lady explained that although hundreds of women had complained through them about the lack of front fastening bras, after surgery bras and the maternity range, head office werent going to do anything about it as it wasn't financially beneficial.

Not helpful!

Guess I'm lucky as the big m&s's near me (london) stock a lot of different nursing bras and maternity tights. Don't think they do any mat clothing even online now tbh. I like their baby clothes tho!
