Vulva varicoses

Ok this may be TMI but I have a lot of pain downstairs at the beginning of my pregnancy and tried to ignore the swelling but I thought it was time I have a look and I've got vulva varciouses. It's horrible and now I'm panicking about giving birth (I'm 38weeks). I haven't let my husband near me for a long time as I'm so ashamed. I didn't have this in my first pregnancy. Does anyone else have this or been through this? Does it affect labour and will it go away after??

I thought I had it in my first pregnancy but I showed a doctor and she was confident I didn't- so you never know. It can affect labour but I think they judge it on a case by case basis as it affects everyone differently. Sorry I can't help more

I know exactly how you feel as I had these ( as well as lovely varicose veins on my legs). I was really worried too about the birth as one mw had told me that sometimes they can burst and bleed. Anyway, everything was fine, when it came to it, there was no pain, and no bleeding and they've pretty much gone back to normal.

I think the mw was trying to scare me about the bleeding though (I was having a home birth) as another one said that it was rare for them to burst and even if they did, then you just stem the bleeding.

Hope all goes well for you. Smile

Yes! Have them here! Luckily mine have not caused any pain thus far at 35 weeks. I think they should go away nornally after birth they said. Nobody has worried about mine and I am being consultant led for previous dvt so I have vein probs anyway but I wouldn't worry too much. Hope it doesn't get too painful for you though.

Crikey, I was worried about bleeding too as I'm on blood thinners but nobody has mentioned that to me.

I have 9 week old DC3 and I had these with my second and third pregnancies. Very unpleasant to look at, achy and itchy but happy to say that they disappeared completely post delivery and that they were not an issue during labour. I thought I'd worry about them while pushing but surprise surprise, I was completely distracted!

Oh the secret joys of pregnancy Grin.

Yep, me too! on pregnancy no 4. Were there from 20ish weeks last time & I'm now 15w & can feel the familiar ache starting.....

Was really worried about labour last time; they caused no problems during my 2 hr waterbirth or afterwards.....

Good luck!
