Hiya ladies :),
Bit of a TMI thread here.

Im 29+5 and it seems that my bowel movements go from one extreme to the other literally week to week!!

Up until 20ish weeks i had TERRIBLE constipation! got to the point where I had to sit in a warm bath for an hour and literally push with ALL my strength to get anything out! Luckily worked and the 'outcome' wasnt too unpleasant! Then obviously jumped straight in the shower afterwards!

after the 20 week period i was normalish for a week or so. Then back to constipation. Back to normal so on so forth. But this week has been the complete opposite. I have terrible stomach atm. I dont go too much (as if it was a stomach bug). Maybe 2-3 times a day. But the urge is just instant and when i gotta go, i gotta go!! Has anyone else experienced this? and how do u regulate yourself? :/ i kinda want my constipation back!! :/

I have no advice but I feel the same way, although I do prefer the shits to constipation.

Here's some advice - Dont push!!!! Shock

Seriously, you will get terrible piles

Plenty of water, lots of veggies. Don't try to "go", wait until you really need to, but I know how horrid constipation can make you feel. I found having something to raise my feet on the loo made it easier to go - a kid's step stool from
Ikea was perfect.

Any idea how to stop this weeks explosions? lmao! Oh the joys of being pregnant!!

I had the piles after 20weeks too :( was awful.
When constipation comes back il take your advice and try and hold off until im bursting. I never thought of that, i just thought that if i sit there long enough gravity will take over! Thankyou :)

Pharmacist advised me to avoid dairy when I was "loose". It helps a lot. I still seem to go from one extreme to the other all the time, no rhyme nor reason to it Sad

for constipation, our preggo yoga teacger has recommended ground up golden linseed - you can grind it up and mix with some warm water, and down it, or you can sprinkle it on cereal.

i suffered from the 'explosion' variety of bowel movements for a long time before becoming pregnant, sadly immodium is out of bounds when preggers and nor does it solve the issue. sorting out my diet was a big help though, i never ate terribly unhealthily but little things helped...i found having a good wheaty breakfast like shredded wheat was a great help at regulating me and making me a little more 'solid'. also, i now avoid any food that is too creamy / mayonnaise-y / eggy / oily etc as i find i get an immediate need to go after eating such things, so food choices have to be much more careful.

hope this phase passes, until then, be sure to carry some tissues in your handbag and learn where the good public toilets are if you're out! it can be miserable
