I'm freaking out a bit!!! Just taken two pregnancy tests - both positive!!! Most of me is thrilled - a bunch of my friends are now preggo with baby no.2 and I've been feeling like I would love to be heading in the same direction (we have one DS18 months)...... HOWEVER..... this was not planned, I'm literally in my second week of a new job (which has a 6 month probationary period!) and DH is currently interviewing for new jobs as we're not sure about his current firm anymore.... plus, still BF and co-sleeping with DS, not sure if he's ready for no.2 and we've got our work cut out getting him ready!!

Sooooooo.......how do I now tell my DH, he's just landed after a business trip and will be home from the airport in about an hour....... do I present him with a "surprise" - the tests in a gift box or do I wait till the morning when DS can give him the news (I have a size 18-24m No.1 Bro t-shirt in the wardrobe which was supposed to be for someone else but is now very appropriate for DS!) I've always wanted DS to break the news about DC2 when the time comes but not sure if I can contain myself till the morning!! (we live abroad GMT+3 so it's bed time now pretty much, maybe I should just go to sleep before he arrives back and tell him in morning....... (if I can sleep!))

Sorry for long random post, like I said, am freaking out a bit!!

What do you think? How did you tell your news? :)

If he's going to be a bit shocked then I would say tell him yourself over dinner or a drink once ds in bed as you don't want him to react negatively in front of ds.

Congratulations by the way. There's never a right time so it may as well be now. X

awww congrats monk3ysmummy :)

how about getting your dc to hand daddy the test in a gift box with a little note saying something like im going to be a big brother ! or tiny patter of little feet ?

my news each time ive been expecting im on dc3 as we speak (33+5) ive done the tests with hubby waiting in the living room so no suprise as such but he was over joyed each time those words pinged pregnant Grin

Congratulations!!!
Like you I would find hard to contain myself!!! So the sooner the better!!

Er, not to rain on your parade or anything, but is it such a good idea to tell an 18 month old that you're pregnant at such an early stage of the game?

LadyGoodman · 19/09/2013 20:19

Congratulations on pg

I wouldnt play games with T shirts or tests in a box if you dont know how he would react i agree with other posters have a proper discussion about it.

Put the pissy sticks under his pillow, then the pregnancy will seem like a much nicer surprise!

Congrats!

Thanks for all the responses ladies. I was asleep by the time he got home from the airport (soooo tired already!!) so I told him in the morning, well, I did put the t-shirt on DS and he figured it out from that! Then I showed him the sticks when he asked if I was sure!! Definitely surprised (he had no idea I was even suspecting) but not negative, just the timing wasn't quite what we had in mind, although, he was still undecided whether he wanted more than one in fact!

Clobbered, don't worry - DS has no idea what's going on, all he knows is that I changed him into a different t-shirt! lol! He's probably too young to understand for a while and definitely won't be telling him anything until we're into the "safe zone" and there's something tangible for him to relate it to.

I'm slowly getting my head round it, will be more real once we've managed to see the doctor and had an early scan etc then there will be a lot to think about. It's going to be slightly embarrassing telling work but ultimately, this is what I wanted, the age gap will be great for DS. Hopefully we get through the next few weeks ok and then will have to start thinking and planning it all!! eeeeek!!
