Does it have to be white or pink or blue? Could it,for example,be sort of Doctor Who based?

For you or the baby? Grin

It can be whatever you want but would suggest something appropriate for the season.

Due end of December so will need to be cozy warm stuff but fancied the idea of a Doctor Who sleep suit or hat or blanket.

You dress your baby how you want to Smile

TobyLerone · 15/09/2013 16:31

I've never really seen the point in a special 'going home outfit'. When I had my last 2 DC and they gave me the go-ahead to leave that hellhole hospital, the last thing I was going to do was faff about putting fancy outfits on the baby. I was out of there, throwing small children behind me in my haste.

But if I had, it might well have been Dr Who themed :o

DaleyBump · 15/09/2013 16:34

I fabric penned white things - my wee man is coming home in in something that says "can you tell daddy dressed me?" or "the littlest Little" because that'll be his second name. Dress them however you like!

katebakes · 15/09/2013 16:56

Fab post! Yes...we have called our LO baby mouse for most of my pregnancy so our going home outfit is mouse themed. He even has mouse slipper shoes.

TheFallenNinja · 15/09/2013 16:59

It's your baby, you could dress it's a Japanese Admiral if you wished. Smile

BigW · 15/09/2013 17:04

I wish I hadn't wasted so much time and energy trying to find a going home outfit. He only wore it the once. If you like dr who (I do!) Then go for it. If I have another, I might go for a theme!

ladymalfoy · 15/09/2013 17:28

That's it then! I'm going to practice 'Mumsnet says I can' when DM starts on at me. I'll be 40 when he/she is born so I suppose I can do what I want! Thanks you guys. Xxx

If all goes well with me, I will be having a homebirth, butI like the Japanese admiral, so it might have to be our first trip out. Makes me chuckle thinking of well wishers looking in the pram to see a litt samurai staringback, or asleep as will most likely be the case.

Great post.

pinkr · 15/09/2013 17:55

I was so knackered I wouldn't have noticed whether was wearing anything never mind the baby. Save the outfit for first visitors at home!

rallytog1 · 15/09/2013 19:57

Out of interest, where does one purchase a Doctor Who outfit for a newborn?

rallytog1 · 15/09/2013 19:58

Incidentally, I think there could be nothing more appropriate than a Doctor Who sleepsuit.

And I rillyrillyrilly want to know where I can buy one.

vaticancameo · 15/09/2013 20:02

Love the idea of a Dr Who baby!

Dress baby in what you want, but bear in mind you will be more knackered and sore than you believe possible, and that anything that has to be pulled over baby's head/buttoned up at the back will literally reduce you to tears. Also, two-piece outfits (ie top and trousers) aren't very comfy for baby until the cord has dropped off, which takes a few days. A vest and cute sleepsuit topped with a cardi and hat and a nice blanket are all you need.

ladymalfoy · 15/09/2013 20:31

Trying to find the site. They had fleece cot blankets that had Gallifreyan symbols on and little sleep suits that had a teeny sonic screw driver stitched on the chest. And teeny little hats that looked like a Daleks head or the Tardis.

Anothermrssmith · 15/09/2013 21:08

Not a Dr Who fan at all but loving the Dr Who themed outfit!

Hubby and I are big music fans, now I've read this i'm and the idea has been put in my head going to spend hours now scouring the internet for newborn band tshirts, lol!
