I don't know if this is the right place to post.. So I'm sorry if it isn't!
I started getting some pains in my stomach on Wednesday night which were really bad, I went to the doc on Thursday morning.. I told him there is a chance I might be pregnant but the pain was quite bad. I had a blood test and the hcg(??) levels were high but went back Friday with continuing pain and small bleeding and after another test was told the hormone levels had dropped. I have now been bleeding heavy for about a day.. But what do I do next? My doctor hasn't been much use.. Do I go for a scan? How do I check there is nothing more seriously wrong??
I should only be just over 4 weeks so I didn't even know I was pregnant :(

Sorry!

sorry to hear Thanks, it is upsetting Sad

google chemical pregnancy - it means there's no other proof of a pg that is finished apart from a positive pg test (or in your case a blood test)

ask your GP to book you in for an abdominal scan.

you might need an ERPC (that is a scrape of the uterus) or if it was an ectopic pg you might need some treatment - I don't know much about that.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, apart from taking care of yourself

Pop over to the miscarriage boards for more info and support. There's not much to be done at such an early stage unfortunately. A scan is unlikely to be helpful since at 4 weeks it's unlikely to show anything useful/reliably.
Sorry you're in such an awful position.

Sorry that this has happened. A chemical pregnancy or very early miscarriage is, sadly, a very common thing and most of the time there is nothing that needs to be done. It should be like a more than usually hideous period, for some it is just like an ordinary period and the further along you are the more painful it is. A scan so early should not be necessary and you are unlikely to need any treatment. Make sure a pregnancy test is negative in a weeks time, if not go back to the doctor, same if you are still bleeding in two weeks.
hope it is over quickly and the next one is a sticky one.

Would I ask for an abdominal scan if I want to check there is nothing wrong inside me!!?
Thanks x

Sorry to hear this. I have had two mc's and know its awful to go through.
With my first one they didn't really do anything just told me I was losing and it would come away on its own.
With second I had to go to the BEP clinic at the maternity hospital and they did an internal scan to confirm that it was a loss.
Maybe contact your local BEP or EPU clinic. They are usually at the maternity hospital and see what they say. They may bring you in for a scan or because its so early they may not do anything.
Sorry again xxx

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I have no new advice that isn't already above, but I would advise contacting your local EPU. I suspect the advice will not be much different from your doctors. However, in my experience (2 previous mc) they have been extremely sympathetic and reassuring. xx
