I would think it would be safe HF, infact I would have thought it would be a good thing for the baby as well as you

Just found this , which should help you

I took fish oils (capsules) in the last trimester when pregnant with my DD. I'm planning to this time too . I spoke with a dietitian about it just the other day, and she thinks fish / fish oil supplements are a good idea too. You can get ones specific for pregnancy, but as they can be quite costly, I took the basic capsules, which, if you read the label, contain the same things anyway!

Happyface, my dh has just bought some fish oil capsules from this website and they sell supplements specifically for use during pregnancy. You can order by phone as well : 08700 53 6000

I wish I could remember the name, as I want them this time round too. I'd know them if I saw them, but that's not much help to you, is it?! (ps, DH has just interjected with the name 'Foil', but I wouldn't personally bank on the accuracy of that one!) I got them in a health food shop, I don't think it was actually 'Holland & Barratt' but somewhere similar. (Sorry for not being much help at all!)

HAPPYFACE · 18/02/2004 22:26

Thanks again everyone, I'll try in the local health food shop but if no joy I'll get them from you link gingernut. Its good they sell supplements for children may try my dd.

Gingernut, by coincidence I used that site today!
Been looking into fish oils - in particular EPA and there is a lot of good research on them, including excellent trials that have found them amazingly effective for depression - including long-term, drug resistant suicidal depression.

aloha · 18/02/2004 23:00

And they may halve the rates of PND too.

gingernut · 18/02/2004 23:20

Really aloha - that's very interesting. dh bought some because there is evidence that fish oils can be beneficial for people with diabetes (dh has NIDDM).

Aloha - Im thinking of taking them for same reason (coming off AD's) - help with avoiding recurrence of anxiety/depression.

I have been giving my children the Omega 3 eggs available at M&S and Tesco. Apparently they improve concentration.
