A bit shocked dc1 was engaged very early 28 weeks but didn't arrive until 38 weeks and was a tiny 5ib 7oz's!

This time this babies a lot bigger started on the 50th percentile now just off the 90th percentile (although i do see consultant in two weeks far check up and scan due problems with dd1 pg)

My first dc was a girl and this ones definitely a boy, I've been told boys and second babies are usually bigger?!

Mw has said i won't go to term if he carries on the same growth I'm 5`3 and pre pregnancy size 10! Bit worried as my last delivery just a year ago was 3 hours 15 mins lol.

Can anyway share similar experience, would be much appreciated:-)

I was told dc1 was going to be huge going from growth chart but sent for growth scan and to see if pelvis would be big enough to deliver and it was mainly waters he was 8 lb 1 and I was 41+6 when I had him by cs so a very average size, saying that a girl from work just gave birth to a 10lb 5 baby naturally and said it was easier than her first that was much smaller.

I'm pg with dc2 (think its a boy but don't know for sure). Ds was 8lb 8oz born at 42wks after induction, episiotomy & vontouse.

This baby, according to several scans, is 90th centile or even a bit over. I'm seeing consultant on Monday to beg to be induced at 40wks as petrified of having a huge baby.

Doc, mw & consultant so far haven't been bothered about size it's just me panicking! I have never felt the same down below after having ds and would rather give birth to as small a baby as poss (although I know they say once body has done it once second time isn't as bad etc etc).

I will be 40wks on sept 19th so am hoping I will have had my baby by this time next week!

Had to post as this struck a chord with me.
My baby is 8 months old, my 2nd, but my 9th pregnancy including mcs.
I was asked during my pregnancy was this my first, I had to acknowledge my lost babies so I replied that no, it's my 9th. That was the first time I had said that out loud. Have never said it again.

Anyhoo, you are asking about 2nd baby size. Ds 1 was 5Lbs 4oz. My baby this time, a boy was 5Lbs 14oz I am rubbish at growing babies.

That said, they are both healthy as horses and bloody delish!!

Thanks ladies:-) I think its just a bit of a shock I was only 5ib's full term my mum was similar size i was dc1 and my hubby was of 6.5 ibs!

Will see in a couple of weeks a bit more accurately i suppose could just be lots of water I hope lol Just seems a massive difference in size, my dd was on the bottom line on chart and born on 2nd percentile at 38 weeks!

What i should've asked was, were you second or more dc bigger, earlier and did you have a shorter labour/delivery?

Just curious i know every pg and lady are different

Ok my second was smaller, first 8lb1 2nd 7lb7 3rd 7lb3 and 4th 8lb3 my labour was a lot faster each time 1st was 18 hours ending in emcs 2nd was 6 hours vbac 3rd was 2.5 hours vbac and 4th was 4.5 hours vbac all 1,2&4 were all late and 3 a week early

CreatureRetorts · 14/09/2013 14:22

Congratulations!

My second was a pound lighter than my first. She engaged earlier and did arrive 8 days earlier than my first. Labour was different - waters broke (not with my first until the end) contractions were much more bearable until the last hour (I remember putting ds to bed 4 hours before dd was born and breathing through each one). Pushing was quicker - 20 mins instead of 2 hours....

princesscupcakemummyb · 14/09/2013 21:26

Ju1es22 my first baby was a girl and she was born at 40+5 weighing in at 8 pounds 5 ounces

my second daughter was born at 41 weeks and was (smaller) weighed in at 7 pounds 8 ounces :)

im now on dc3 im 33 weeks this is a boy so dont know how diff the weight will be but honestly dont worry yourself the consultants scared me to death with my dc1 said she would weigh around 10lbs well they where wrong as you can see even know she wasent tiny she wasent 10lbs lol

Helspopje · 14/09/2013 21:33

have you been on heparin this time? If so, placenta may be working better hence better growth.
That said, growth scans and fundal height are pretty poor predictors.

dankaylaci · 14/09/2013 21:41

Im so sorry im new to this website and have a touch screen phone and pressed report by mistake hope nothing has happened was only reading comments as my baby isnt very big either (blush)

CreatureRetorts · 15/09/2013 07:02

You'll be fine. I press report all the time. You have to do something else to actually submit a report request.

Ju1es22 · 15/09/2013 09:30

Looks like I'll just have to wait and see eh! Thank you for all for sharing your experiences:-)

I've got my hospital bag pretty much ready as advised by mw, been having lots of painful bh and been feel grinding down below last couple of days think babies moved a bit further down!

Because of history of recurrent mc's and due to my cervix effacing very early last time, they're keeping a close eye on baba and I which is comforting i suppose:-)

No on heparin but I did have a stone extra weight that I didn't have with dd, due to not loosing it before conceiving ds when daughter was 5 months old lol!

I've also been told to ring an ambulance when I know I'm in labour just in case thus ones even quicker than dd, that scares me more than his weight tbh!

Good luck ladies will report back when he arrives:-)
