Hey

I have an 8 year old and I thought I was over the whole baby thing, but I find myself pregnant.

I have NO idea just how pregnant I am as this is totally unexpected and I haven't had a period in ages - I put it down to stress and an injury from a car crash (broken ribs - ouch). At a guess, I'd say between 8 and 12 weeks. I can't get a doctors appointment until next week and I have no nails left.

Tomorrow I turn 30 and I live in the middle of England somewhere. I'm struggling with giving up caffeine and I'm feeling very schizophrenic about this whole pregnancy thing. I'm happy for my husband and my other child, but I just keep thinking about giving up work, and a drop in income, and not getting to go on holiday next year, getting even fatter when I'm already way overweight and other selfish things really.

Pleased to meet you all. Off to have a little lurk.

I would not say your selfish to be worried about the life your enjoying being about to change, I would say normal.
Congratulations

I'm sure I just need to get used to it!

Congratulations on your surprise BFP! Ouch hope your ribs are better soon!

It sounds like you are being sensible and realistic as babies turn your world upside down (as you'll know with your daughter!)

I'm sure you'll be fine! Give yourself time and maybe it will help having other people to chat to on here.

xx

I have a son, but thanks! :-)

I think having people to chat to will help - we've not told anyone yet - we'll wait to find out how far on I actually am!

Might be a nice idea to 'join' on ante-natal club on here when you find out how far you are - the link is here

People there at the same stage of pregnancy as you and can be a good support, smaller group of people posting so you get to 'know' them etc

Congratulations too!
