I'm 24+5 weeks preg with dc3 and this week have been feeling shortness of breath and chest tightening.
It's not constant but when it starts it makes me feel quite sick and dizzy and a little bit of panic.
Never had this with dc1 or 2.
Is it normal?
Thanks for any advice in advance x

I got this at about 24 weeks too and it was because I was iron deficient anaemic and that's one of the symptoms. Maybe get your bloods done, lots of people get low iron at this stage x

Thanks MummyLuce. Feeling like I have a weight on my throat at the moment. It's unnerving.

I had this too, but actually i think it was Anxiety. And the more i thought about it the worse it got. Went to docs anyway to get checked out; advise you do the same. And mine just went away after a week or so.

I'm getting this and am 20+3 wks. I describe it as it feels like you cant take a full deep breath. I had this last pregnancy & ended up in A&E havig a panic attack.

Advice i have is to slow down or stop what you are doing, lean forward or if at home get on your hands & knees and lean over a sofa arm/coffee table/footstool etc to try to move the baby weight out and down. Take a few minutes to get back to a comfortable breathing pace and then take it easy - obviously not so easy with a toddler. I had forgotten about iron levels affecting it too (think i'll ask to be checked at next appointment).

I had this at around the same time, on and off for a good few weeks. I drove my poor DP mad with all my deep sighing as I desperately tried to get air in!! I had thought it was just down to the position of the baby...

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll mention it to my mw. Had dizzy feeling and dark spots in vision today when I was driving Confused
I really feel like I've gone back to having morning sickness too.

Do you have any chest pain? I think you should go see your GP first thing. I don't want to worry you, it probably is just anxiety, but there are some conditions like lung blood clots that are more common in pregnancy.

lovelylentils · 12/09/2013 06:59

It feels like a lump/ weight on my throat/ top of my chest. Wasn't sure if it was baby high up causing indigestion or similar.
This thing is it all comes and goes. I'll be fine for a couple of hrs then weird again.
Will try to call my mw for a chat as next app isn't until beginning of oct.

I agree with going to the GP ASAP. If its nothing then fine, but I had shortness of breath at 21weeks with my twins, posted here and everyone said get checked for anaemia etc. I just put it down to the babies and luckily had a scan/midwife appointment the next day (had seen consultant the day the symptoms started) and it turned out to be multiple clots in my lungs.

Of course, it probably isn't that, but its really best to get checked out.

BelleEtLaBaby · 12/09/2013 09:01

Just to agree with midori - I had shortness of breath, intermittent pains in chest and dizzy spells and I also had multiple clots (it was shortly after pregnancy for me). At first it can feel quite mild but is very dangerous. Please do go to your GP today - any shortness of breath is serious and they will see you today.

I don't want to frighten you - but I dithered and thought I'd be fine in a couple of days and I really wasn't.

Well I spoke to my GP over the phone. (couldn't get hold of mw) who said it sounded like baby high up and heartburn/ indigestion and to try gaviscon.
Doesn't really feel like that sort of pain though but not sure.
Can't see him till next Wednesday now.
