Summer baby vs winter baby.....

So DS1 was a summer baby. I have many a fond memory of long walks in the sun with him as a newborn. We had family over for bbqs and all the rest of it..... Fast forward to now and I'm expecting DC2 in December! I am wondering how it will be? Am I more likely to get PND? I hate the cold...... Will new baby have constant snuffles and runny nose etc? Will I be stuck indoors for most of the time? Any experiences to share?

By the time you emerge from the toddler plus newborn fog it will be march, the days will lengthen and it will be getting warmer.

Your second child will get loads more colds than your first did because your eldest will bring them into the house. Whether summer or winter baby this is inevitable !

Just to add, winter is good as it's easier to establish a difference between night and day with the properly dark nights! Ime it helps to get baby in a routine before the summer.

I've had an April and July baby and this one due Nov. Enjoying cooler weather as I get bigger (imagine being 9 months pregnant in a heat wave- yuck) and on a different note, children born after sept / before April are older in their school year and can find it easier as a result!

I have two winter babies and I loved them both. I enjoy hibernating as much as I can in winter and there isn't much better than hibernating with a beautiful snuffly little baby. I also love winter clothes for covering lumps and bumps.

Winter baby clothes are also gorgeous, little hats and mittens too.

I took a really cute yet embarrassing picture of dc1 dressed as a reindeer at 1 month old and sent it out as a Christmas card.

DD was a winter baby and this baby is due at Christmas so I can't comment on summer babies Grin

As others have said, you are indoors more but you really get to snuggle up and wrap up warm outside and it's lovely. DD ended up being ff and she didn't get her first cold (or even signs of the sniffles) until she was around 9 months old. I'm expecting dc2 to get one sooner as he/she will have theit older sister bringing in all the germs Grin
