sulfasalazine and folic acid??

is it necessary to take folic acid supplement with sulfasalazine
my doctor has never said I need to take folic acid
but i'm scared because i read that sulfasalazine depletes folic acid ... and i discover that i'm pregnant now frown

I was taking sulfasalazine whilst trying to conceive and my rheumatologist did recommend folic acid, as with anyone trying to conceive. When previously taking methotrexate (and not TTC) I took a large dose of folic acid weekly because of how the meds affected levels.

So my answer is...check with your doctor! I imagine you should take it. Do you see a specialist consultant? Ask them! Call them tomorrow and leave a message with your question and get them to call you back. Sorry it's not an immediate answer but I hope it helps.

i went to obs doctor ,,, he gave me folic acid high dose
i'm scared about the first 2 weeks of my pregnancy wihout folic supplement
so , how much folic did you take while trying to conceive with sulfasalazine?
