Breech at 31 weeks

Hi, found out at a scan on Friday that my baby's bum is exactly where its head should be! Sonographer doesn't seem concerned and said there is still plenty of room and time for the baby to move into the correct position - I've to go back for another scan at 34 weeks. In the meantime, she advised me to get bouncing on a birthing ball and to get down on all fours to try and coax baby to move, which I've already started doing.

Just wondering if anyone else had any tips for getting their breech baby to move? I've read that swimming can help, as can placing something cold on my bump where the head is and something warm where you want the head to go and they can move away from the coldness?

DC3 was breech a couple of weeks ago at 29+5 so I am getting ready to start with the optimal fetal positioning stuff if he hasn't turned by my next appointment on Wednesday this week.

A lot of people have recommended the Spinning Babies website to me.

Ooh watching with interest as I'm in exactly the same position. Midwife seemed unconcerned but had c-section last time (for another reason) and keen to avoid another! Will get the ball out if that's a good tip!

DD was breech at 31 wks and turned by herself

There is still nine weeks to go, your LO could turn a couple of times between now and then. Smile

Moxibustion caused my dd to turn at 36/37 weeks in 12 hours.

I also did all the spinning babies stuff I could do, including ear phones down my pants. Lovely.

I'm currently trying to turn a stubborn transverse baby (now 36 weeks, been like it since at least 27/28 weeks). Contemplating handstands in swimming pool next!!! Nothing seems to want to get it to shift. The joys of later pregnancy.

Live on the ball! Also pelvic tilts and child's pose in yoga. My first was breech until 36+5 and then did a massive swivel so there's still time. Also I think accupuncture can help, but I never got round to that. Good luck - still loads of time!

Thanks everyone, will check out that website and some of your techniques. I'm having to fight my DD to get on the birthing ball, she just thinks its a massive toy for her to jump about the living room on!
