Hi i am 31 weeks and have had a horrible cold for the last week, my stomach is very very sore from coughing and the cough is very irritating now and quite chesty, had a chest infection a couple of months ago following a cold, is there no cough mixtures i can take at all? obviously if the cough persists i will go see the G.P as will prob be another chest infection. Sad

TIA

think you can take simple linctus....but it is not really that good, works best with a little hot water in it. have you tried a hot lemon drink (with a very small tot of something in it) karvol plug in's helped my chest as well..... hug a pillow/cushion when you cough to help support your tummy.... erm cant think of anything else.... hope you feel better soon!!!

Pucca, I have had esactly the same prob recently. Bad chect infection which antibiotics didn't touch and then I went really downhill. I tried simple honey and lemon linctus, which whilst safe didn't really help much. Also tore muscles around rib cage on left side, v bad pain. I can only say that sitting in b'room with shower running, (i.e lots of steam), helped open up airways. Propped myself up with loads of pillows and pretty much slept sitting up for about a week and being signed off work, and rest rest rest did the trick. Rest and sleep, lots of fresh fruit and veg to fight infection seemed to be docs advice and it did work. Good luck hun, it is miserable, hth xx

not quite the same, but as you seem to be getting little response... i'm bf-ing 5mo (so can't take medicine) and got a v v sore throat at the weekend. it hurt so much i didn't eat and could only swallow water. the chemist recommended STREPSILS, they have anaesthetic to relieve the pain and antiseptic to fight any infection. you still have to be quite limited in how many you have, but they've been absolutely brilliant for me. (on the plus side i've lost 4 pounds)

Thanks guys, the cough seems to have broken a little now so not as tight and wheezy, but still bloody hurting when i cough, not too bothered about how lousy i feel, just feel sorry for the poor baby lol.

Thankyou for replying.
