If you have pre-eclampsia does swelling go down?

Having a little worry to myself, please tell me it's unfounded.

I'm 28+1 and for the past week or so I've been seeing flashing lights and black spots. I've also been getting headaches that take forever to go away and my hands, feet and ankles have been swelling. Especially my hands, but it's not a lot of swelling and it goes away after a while. I had my BP checked last week and it was low, but I have low blood pressure anyway. Surely this is nothing to worry about?

Anyone?

Hey DaleyBump, not sure tbh but I think having a combination of possible PE symptoms should be checked ASAP just in case and to put your mind at ease. It is my understanding that not all symptoms are necessarily present, so low blood pressure doesn't mean all ok.

Thank you, I gave them a call and they do want to see me. Thanks for replying :)

I had Pre Eclampsia at 36 week and was kept in hospital til 37 week. I was nearly double my size with the swelling.

I didn't have the flashing though. Just the swelling and high blood pressure. 250 I think it went up tom best getting checked.

Cheers everyone :) it's not PE but I'm currently sitting in hospital waiting for blood results to rule out menengitis. No idea how to spell that :p sure everything is fine though :)

Glad it's not PE and that meningitis can be ruled out. Let us know how you get on.

Just to round things off - to answer your original question, I had PE. Raised bp in final weeks of pg, ended up going into hospital at 39wks for monitoring & staying in until baby's arrival. Post delivery I lost at least 1 stone in body weight on water. The swelling was awful, but went in around 1-2wks.

Glad you're home and all ok. Do you feel better?

MrsRoss that sounds a lot like my mum when she had me though I was born at 29 weeks. In Photos of her at the time she's so swollen up.
