not sure whether I'm getting stretch marks?!

I'm 35 pregnant, and in the past few weeks I've started noticing a weird patch of skin above my belly button.

It looks like an old scar, and is all white and shiny. Not horrible-looking in itself, but I'm intrigued...

Everything I've read says that stretch marks first show up coloured (red, purple, etc), and then eventually fade to white and shiny. So, is this an old stretch mark I'd never noticed before? (sounds a bit unlikely... I've never gained/lost much weight quickly before)

Or is it some other horrible pregnancy thing I haven't heard of yet??

The way u have described it it does sound like an old stretch mark. The ones I got with my son were very purple and angry looking and have eventually turned white over time.

Although I did read on here a few weeks back that some people got white ones without them being purple to begin with. I don't think it sounds like anything else tho so don't worry.

I definitely had ones like this..... I tried convincing myself they couldn't be but they are! They left crepey marks on my skin after birth but not too bad on my 4th now & they have never got any worse

Some of mine started out like this! Might not be the case for you but I could see at the side of my belly button, shiny marks like old stretch marks which slowly turned red/purple.

well guess what, since I asked yesterday they've definitely started turning slightly purple! crazy!

so I guess it is true, stretch marks can start out white and shiny.

thanks for the reassurance, and for letting me know I'm not the only one with weird stuff happening around their belly button :)
