Neurotic first time prego

Hello,

I know that I am going to get some posts stating "why are you asking on MNs, call the midwife" but please bare with me.

I am 18.5wks pregnant. So far, I have not had any issues apart from the flaring up of my Sciatica and morning sickness.

Now, today and perhaps for a few days, I have had a strange pain up in my vagina(sorry, TMI) I have had strange pains throughout that my trainee MW sister tells me are just growing pains but I am not sure(also because she likes to appear like a know it all and only been training 18months.)

It is not like really painful or debilitating but just strange.

Can anyone advise?? Or calm my nerves???

I have been having fluttering jabs and am growing well but could do with really just knowing what it is.

Most likely growing pains so don't worry.
I had exactly the same.

Could be painful at times. But it's juat everything stretching so don't worry xx

I think you have what might be described as "knitting needles up fanjo syndrome" here on MN. It's very common and uncomfortable but nothing to worry about.

Robin, Thank you so much, that is exactly what it feels like!!! I am pleased that others have it(not to inflict pain but know I am not strange).

Why do you get it though?? What is growing in my fanjo?

I have no idea why you get it. One of the joys of pregnancy, I guess :o.

I used to get it all the time - I thought that it felt like when you get a crisp stuck in your throat but downstairs. When I came on MN and realised that others got it and that's what people called it I was like "Thank God!"

It's probably to do with the baby getting heavier and pressure?

My doctor said that knitting needle pain was spd?

i get this sometimes too (22 wks) but more like a dull pain, then i feel a few kicks in my cervix and wonder if it's the baby is low down and kick pressure is passing on??

Thanks guys, I feared SPD and my physio said that it is likely because of my sciatica, therefore I spend most of my life on my exercise ball atm!!!

I now have sciactic pain today so I think they must be linked!! Oh well, 21 weeks to go!
