Hi guys, I'm 41 weeks pregnant and midwife has tried to do 2 sweeps, both unsuccessful due to cervix being closed and posterior! I've tried everything from sex to walking, gym ball and evening primrose capsules! Induction has been booked for 5 days time! She didn't seem convinced that I will be in labour anytime soon!
What's everyone's experience?

No idea, both mine 3,& 5 weeks early Grin however sister was told to regularly every day to visualise you cervix etc opening wide & wider, power of positive thinking, it worked within 48 hours,

I'm 41 weeks today too and had first sweep tues night after being told I was 2-3cm dilated and it was quite soft/short... still didn't work! Have another one booked for Monday, if that doesn't work then I'm surely doomed to induction. So frustrating isn't it?!

PS I realise this was unhelpful hut wanted you to know you are not alone!

Aww bless you! Yeah it's annoying! I just know I'm going to be induced, she is coming back Monday to try a 3rd time but booked in for Wednesday for induction! I just know its harder to be induced with a closed cervix.. Hate waiting around xx hope it's better for you x

I was induced with DS1 as I was 42 weeks and I was also 2 wks overdue with DS2. I had 5 unsuccessful sweeps and tried everything that's said to start labour. Following all of this I'm of the belief that nothing works and baby comes when baby's ready. I really feel for you because the waiting is a killer and the disappointment of your efforts not leading to induction are very frustrating. My advice to you is to forget about it and treat yourself to day time naps until the time comes. On the bright side, your baby is getting stronger and stronger in there and he/she'll be more robust and easier to care for once he/she comes. Good luck x

I had 2 sweeps- cervix posterior and totally unfavourable. Induced at 42/40 and went into labour quickly despite that score thingy that they do predicting that I would need a section. I did loads of walking up and down the corridor after the pessary and I think that may have helped to start things off. Good luck! Induction was no way as bad as I thought it would be, gas and air = amazing and you can always have an epidural.
