spotting at 27 weeks

Just spent the evening in hospital due to bright red spotting. I was so scared! Has anyone had this? OB couldn't find any obvious reason for it and baby has been monitored and fine!

I had it at 30 weeks in my last pregnancy, alot of bleeding though. They never found the cause though and gave me steriod injections. My waters went a few weeks later. BUT I did have a huge bleed so mine was different. I bled in this pregnancy too and my cervix has shortened. I take it they have scanned you? Its scary but doesn't mean the worse cause though.

I had this at 27 weeks as well and they kept me in overnight. Like you there was no reason found, everything looked normal. But I do have a low lying placenta so not sure if that was the reason. They also told me that often you get a bit of a bleed around 27 weeks due to the uterus expanding so that could be why?

Thanks for the replies ladies. They didn't scan me but I'm due one next week due to unrelated fetal anomaly anyway. Cervix was closed and normal and placenta is posterior, so no clear reason for the bleeding. It's stopped now so I'm going to have a rest day but every time I go to the toilet I'm worried I'll see more!
