What is our body thinking???

This is a rant about sickness and diarrhoea!!!!! GRR!!

Why, when we are trying to grow another life, does our body want to expel from our body anything we eat and drink??!! Confused

All I've had today is yoghurt and plain biscuits but if my body isn't getting rid of food from one end, it's getting rid of it from the other!!

How are biscuits going to harm the baby?? Why is my body saying NO??!

I'm sorry for all the TMI but I look and feel like sh*t and need to moan to people who understand Sad

Understand completely. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

As awful of it feels, each time I feel sick, am sick or have toilet issues, I am secretly happy that it must mean all we be ok...
But it is really awful, the Folic tablets have made me ill, so I take them in the evening to sleep it off, but then I loose my appetite for normal food (just want junk!) & I have toilet issues in the morning, prob as a result of the junk!
I hope it passes & you feel better soon :) take some vitamins to replace any you poop out!

So, it's 05.30am and I have been awake since 04.00am with an awful twingy stomach. I can't tell if I need to be sick or whether it's the other... Hmm I'm just staying in bed and hoping that the feeling passes. Sad

and I'm feeling the same currently lying on the sofa. between going backwards and forwards to the loo Sad

but it's my own fault as last night I ate a lot of chocolate. silly me.

LandsN · 06/09/2013 06:45

Glad i am not alone I am 33 weeks and actually thought I was in labour last night with stomach cramps but have managed to sleep through the night and woke up this morning with a very sicky feeling in my tummy but no cramps so far but all the way through this pregnancy I have gone from ne extreme to the other constipation for days on end to not being able to stay off the loo :( I just keep saying to myself it will be worth it in the end xx

Writerwannabe83 · 06/09/2013 09:50

It's all just so depressing isn't it Sad I managed to get back to sleep about 6am an have just woke up. No sickness and diarrhoea so far...

I truly believe that once a woman finds out she is pregnant she should be entitled to 9 months off sick from work Smile

I've been off sick all week (I have a brilliant and understanding boss) and I genuinely can't see me being well enough to return on Monday. Sad

Rotten isn't it? I'm 27+5 and the only thing my body will allow me at the moment is garlic and herb Philadelphia! So I'm sat here with a huge tub of it and a spoon. Last week was peaches and I had one week when it was nothing but almost charcoal toast. Anything else makes me feel like death Sad
Meant to be going out for dinner tonight... Not sure gastro pubs serve plates if cream cheese!

Writerwannabe83 · 06/09/2013 17:55

Oh mogz that sounds awful, it must be hard being so limited. I have been a bit better today, I have managed to keep down 5 crackers, 4 biscuits, half a packet of crisps and a bowl of custard. Huge progress compared to yesterday.

I'm now sending my husband out to get me some apples, oranges, yoghurts and raisins. Apparently raisins are good for iron which I definitely think I'm lacking and God knows I wouldn't be able to stomach any meat Sad

Mogz · 07/09/2013 09:13

I'm just glad I can eat anything at all, started off this pregnancy being hospitalised because even water was a no-no. So to be able to eat one or two things is a big improvement.
Keep trying to take your multi vits and folic acid, at least that way you're getting the right nutrients in even if you're lacking the calories.
Hope you keep getting better!

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2013 09:25

The ironic thing is that on the box of my Pregnacare Vitamins it says, "Must be taken with a main meal, they are NOT to be taken on an empty stomach"

Hmm

Oh the stupid irony!!

I'm just feeling so faint and lifeless. I know I need some iron in me but I just don't know how to get it Sad I had my raisins last night but my stomach didn't agree and an hour later I couldn't stop vomiting Sad

OP posts:
Shellywelly1973 · 07/09/2013 10:25

Op have you tried Spatone? Its iron in a liquid form. I mix it with orange juice. You sound so sick so you might not tolerate it but its worth a try!

Have you been to your gp? It sounds like you need anti sickness meds,as your vomiting etc.

Really hope you feel better asap!

Mogz · 07/09/2013 11:04

Oh poor you, do try to see a doc and get some antiemetics, they might help you feel ok for long enough to eat a little meal. How are you with taking fluids? I drank a lot of Complan made up with full fat milk when I got out of hospital, it really helped keep my energy levels up and meant I could take my tablets.

BunInMyOven93 · 07/09/2013 11:08

Somebody mentioned raisens.. just a warning, if you have diarreah they will make it worse. Ther a natural laxative lol. They're brilliant for constipation but terrible for diareah. I use them for me and 3year old stepdaughter when she cant go. Just be careful xx

rachyconks · 07/09/2013 11:09

The pregnacare made me really ill in my last pregnancy. I had sickness until 23/24 weeks - turned out it was the tablets! This time I'm just having folic acid, vitamin D and omega 3&6. My iron levels are great so don't need a supplement. They are the work of the devil those all in one supplements.

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2013 11:21

Thanks everyone for your responses,

I managed to keep some food down yesterday, crackers, biscuits, crisps and a bowl of custard. I have thrown the raisins away!!

My worry is that I take medication for epilepsy and I can't help that worry that with my sickness and diarrhoea it is going to affect the absorption of those, and the effects of that will be awful, as you can imagine. I will go and see my GP next week - I know that my sickness isn't extreme but I'm hoping that because of the issue with my medication they will want to address it with anti sickness drugs.

I haven't been sick this morning but my stomach is absolutely churning. I have managed to eat 3 biscuits. I saw on a website that no matter how sick we feel we should continue to eat, so I'm just forcing myself to.

I'm managing to keep fluids down so I'm just having sips of water, little and often.

I've told him we're having an only child!

I'm with you on this Hun. I am miserable and even my back, shoulders and tummy hurt from throwing up lol. I had a cheeky bacon sarnie from a cafe this morning take out I knew I would throw it up but for 10 mins it made me feel normal eating warm food. Tho stomach is empty now so I'm back to being miserable lol

Writerwannabe83 · 07/09/2013 15:25

Can I ask how quickly you are being sick after having eaten?
With me it tends to be about 2 hours after I've eaten. I try and take some hope from that in the fact that during those 2 hours I may have at least digested something x

OP posts:
Sarahmains40 · 07/09/2013 16:35

Maybe about 15 mins I depends. If I'm having a good day it will be an hour or so and it's more bile coming up. But a bad day like today 15 mins so food just comes bk up. Sorry for the detail lol.

I have googled the exact same thing!! Grin

Well, 7 hours have passed since I was last sick and I have been able to keep down about 8 crackers (with butter on) and 500mls of water. I don't feel sick or nauseous either.

There is a chicken leg and some broccoli downstairs and I'm trying to decide whether I'm brave enough to risk it.....

At about m I started feeling miraculously better! I didn't have the chicken and broccoli but I did have some coco pops and some chocolate buttons, haha Grin. I was then wide awake until gone 1am purely out of sheer happiness that I didn't feel like I was going to die!!

I have woke up this morning and haven't felt sick at all....

I'm going to face the kitchen and some breakfast now and hopefully I will feel well for the rest of the day too. I have been off work all week due to sickness and a, due back tomorrow so I'm hoping I was just having a blip Smile x
