Concerns about dating...

I had to have a reassurance scan a few weeks ago due to the bleeding and based on the measurements they dated me at 7 wks+6.

Today, I had to attend another hospital for another reassurance scan due to further bleeding and they have dated me at 10wks+2.

However, based on the date of my first scan I should actually be 10wks+6.

I questioned the midwife about the 4 days discrepancy and asked if it meant the baby wasn't growing as quickly as it should be, but she didn't seem to concerned. She said that at this early stage any little thing can affect the measurements that being 4 days less than previous scans had suggested was nothing to worry about Hmm I still am though.

Is this quite common??

Dating scans can be out by up to 5 days - there's nothing to worry about.

I had a scan that measured 5wks 3 days. 2 weeks later I had a scan measuring 8 wks 3 days. Sonographer wasn't concerned and said at the early stages it is hard to measure accurately.
Oh and when I went for my 12 week scan I was 2 days further ahead than I expected.

Will you be having a 12 week scan also?

I had a number of scans at 7, 8, 10 weeks as I was bleeding and having had a missed miscarriage prior to that pregnancy. My baby measured small for dates at some points because they are dealing with something only mms in size and there is quite a high margin for error. So much so tht the junior doctor wrote on my notes, non viable fetus due to small size for dates when actually she was born at 8lb5.
So I think it can be completely fine and just a feature of scanning something so tiny. By 12 weeks things can be more accurate. Hope you aren't too worried. It was a thread on here - afraid cant remember its name - which kept my hoping it would be ok and it was. Good luck!

It's normal for them to measure a few days either way.

Mine measured spot on at 7w1d. Measured 4 days AHEAD at 10w1d. From around 9-10 weeks growth is not as consistent and is often related to genetics, placenta etc, so it's easier to be out then. Also they're still measuring Crown to Rump at 10 weeks.. I'm willing to bet depending on how tight baby is curled round will have an effect on the final measurement.

I had a growth scan today because at my 20 week scan (2 weeks ago) baby was measuring small. Today they've decided baby is measuring spot on but the measurements at my dating scan were wrong - they showed me the pictures in my file and you can't tell where baby ends and womb starts because of where it was sitting in the womb. So at 2.30pm i thought i was 22 weeks, as of 3pm im 20! My dates have changed at 3 different scans (having lots as diabetic) and my due date remains a mystery as I had bleeding before I knew I was pregnant which I thought was a period. Scans are far from an exact science, I honestly wouldn't worry too much, especially with a difference of only 4 days.
