Swollen ankles after flying

I'm nearly 17 weeks and just got home after a 10 hour flight followed by 5 hours in the car. My ankles and feet have now swollen up. Does anyone know if this is anything to worry about? Hoping someone is up who knows. Thanks in advance.

Hi, each time I have flown in pregnancy I have ballooned up as in hands and feet etc. however I have not been on journeys as long as yours and my advice would be to get checked out anyway. Better safe than sorry. Keep us posted xx

Thanks nellys. I decided to try sleeping in my flight socks and see how it went. I managed a couple of hours - now wide awake and it doesnt seem to be any worse. I'll try to get some more sleep and see how it is in the morning. If they are still swollen I'll take your advice and get checked.

Hi
I flew long haul at 17 and 22 weeks and both times it took 2-3 days for my swollen ankles to come down. My MW wasn't worried then as no swelling round my face. I think it just does take a bit longer when you are pg.

Good excuse to put your feet up though!

But do call your Mw if you are worried

Thanks choc, that's reassuring. Not too bad this morning so I'm not worried now. Thank you.
