Most of the time you will know if something's not OK. Soon you will be feeling the baby moving, and that's a very reassuring thing.

You really need to relax, look after yourself, and let your body get on with what it knows how to do far better than your mind does. Smile. As a first-timer you'll have plenty of appointments with the midwfie, she will keep an eye on you and will listen and discuss any worries you may have.

Lie back and enjoy the rollercoaster.

choccy why dont you buy a doppler to hear your babys hearbeat may help to reassure you thats what im going to do.17 weeks and 3 days

tribpot · 19/06/2006 19:50

Hearing your baby's heartbeat is good, I do think that having a doppler may be less reassuring though as it's quite easy to miss the baby's heartbeat at this stage, and you could put yourself through needless panic.

Go to see your midwife. I had a freakout at a very similar time in pregnancy and asked to be seen, they didn't even quibble but saw me within a few hours.

choccybickie, I know exactly how you feel. I am pregnant with my 2nd and my fears and worries are exactly the same 2nd time around...I mc x2 before we had dd so our worries were/are unreal.

Worries ranged from : should I feel as sick as I do, sickness has gone do I worry, should baba be moving yet, is that moving correct, etc etc.

All I can say is relax as much as possible and have faith in your body and baby to get to 40 weeks. Making a baby is an amazing thing and it still amazes me how babies are "made" iykwim.
Beaware though...the worry doesn't end when they arrive Wink..!!!! It trebles..!!!! Good luck. xx

I've just joined mn and am very impressed with the site. However, maybe i'm being a bit thick but i'm not sure what is meant by some of the abbreviations i have read!! Can anyone enlighten me?

Choccybickie, its really hard this early, not getting much feedback - it will get better soon, when you feel the baby move. I had four miscarriages before dd, was worried all the time - so I rented a doppler, it really helped me stay sane! I think it was from www.mybump.com
but if you want me to double check, I will.

Will you have a scan at 20 weeks? I'm 16 weeks today, thats my next appointment...

xx

choccybickie · 25/06/2006 12:19

Yeah my scan is on 26th July but ive requested I see the midwife on tuesday so i can listen to the heart beat x
