MW has been on holiday and havent got an appt for a while, surgery reception weren't sure when I needed the flu jab, saying they won't have them in for weeks anyway, and do I need a whooping cough jab? They're saying yes, at 30 weeks - I thought the idea was that you had it later in pregnancy? Confused

Thanks

It's best to have the flu jab as soon as your surgery have them in stock. Although last time I was pregnant I wasn't offered one or called by the GP/midwife, I just happened to have one through work.

Whooping cough:

I was told whooping cough at or after 28w - I guess third trimester is what counts as "late" pregnancy. They don't want to risk your going into labour before you've had it.

I haven't been advised to have the flu jab. I have no preexisting conditions.

They're saying mid October for the flu jabs, I'll be almost due by then.. hmm I wonder if I can get it privately somewhere sooner.

Thanks,will look at the link

My GP usually has flu jabs in from October I think. My asthma was too well controlled for me to be offered one last year so I had it done at Tescos for about £10. I did have one the year before when pregnant though- I thought it was recommended for all pregnant women.

I know its recommended, I was just hoping to get it sooner rather than later. Have already had flu this year and can't face that hell again :)

Think I'll see if the pharmacy will do it

Thanks all,v helpful.
