Hi. I'm having the diabetes test tomorrow morning but have not been given any information about it at all. I vaguely remember from previous pregnancy some years ago that I'm meant to fast before the test. Can anyone advise please! Thank you

Every hospital recommends something different but I had to fast from 10pm the night before, I was only allowed water.

If it's the first one which is only an hour there's no need to fast, but if it's the full GTT 2 hour test you need to fast for 12 hours before x

Yes, you fast from either 10pm or midnight the night before (I've always been told midnight but some people are told 10) and can't eat until after the second blood test.

I think mine was water only from midnight the night before. Presuming it is the GTT test you are having done.

Can you call them? I've always received a letter and instructions in the post.

jenna are you in the US? I've never heard of anyone having the 1hr glucose challenge in the UK.

LuckySocks13 · 02/09/2013 16:30

Yes the GTT test. Thank you for your answers. I have tried to call but no answer from my midwife. Feeling quite let down really by the whole care received this pregnancy.

No London, it was at the Doctors Laboratory in Wimpole Street. It's the first test to see if it's really necessary to have the 2 hour one.

LuckySocks13 · 02/09/2013 16:37

Maybe I better not eat in the morning in case and take something in my bag!
