I'm 18 weeks pregnant with dc3 and have gained a lot of support and advice from these boards although this is the first time I've posted. I had a midwife appt today and she couldn't find the heartbeat. She sent me for a scan and it took the sonnographer ages to find a heartbeat also. This is due to my high bmi but also the position the baby is in. The baby is tucked into a corner of my womb in a Traverse position.
When looking at the screen i couldn't make out the baby at all. I'm not sure what I'm asking but looking for some reassurance that this can be normal and even though its difficult to c, that my baby is ok in there.

Thanks if you got this far xxx

What a scarey day you have had.

I dont know abot the technical details but both reasons they have given sound perfectly normal. All I know is that if they were concernd they would have done more tests etc or referring you to aspecialistfetal medicine dept

Pregnancy is so scary, many hugs

Thank u so much for ur reply. I know ur right. I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks and I'm hoping things improve for then. It's so horrible not being able to c ur baby properly.

Thanks so much for being so lovely. It's just what I needed xxx

That must have been a scary experience, but I think that if you have had a scan now all must be well as the sonographer would have referred you for more investigation if there had been any concerns. Hopefully as your baby grows bigger it will be easier to hear the heartbeat at appointments and you will also start to feel him/her move soon, so that should be reassuring too.

Sounds like u had a really scary day!! I know u must be worried but the doctors mustn't be as they would have done more tests if they were concerned followed scan.
But sending u a big hug as it must have been. Stressful day xx
