Morning!
DH and I are able to afford one last sunshine break as a 2 before our lives are forever changed by the arrival of babyKK in April!

Would you take a break earlier (mid Oct) while im still mobile & small or leave it later (feb) to have a break before the chaos?

My head says go early but if anyone has any words of wisdom I'd appreciate them. TIA!

Definitely go early or mid - maybe around 20 weeks or so? If you leave it until Feb you will need a fit to fly note off the dr, and if you have had any complications then you wouldn't be able to go!

Smile October definately! Me and hubby are doing the same as you, week away in Tenerife. I will be 14 weeks then, so hopefully will have had scans bloods etc done and if all ok, we can tell everyone and then clear off for a week of chilling!

PrincessKitKat · 02/09/2013 11:04

Thanks rock, I didn't know when a fit note would kick in so really useful.

Thanks Emily - enjoy your holiday! I'm now just a bit Confused about wearing a bikini with my already getting rather round tummy!!

I went on our last as-a-couple hol 20-22 weeks and it was perfect. In both first and third trimester I felt too rubbish to have enjoyed it. At 20-22 weeks I had enough energy to enjoy it and enough of a bump to get some great bump-on-holiday snaps Smile
Congratulations and enjoy Thanks

RememberingMyPFEs · 02/09/2013 11:05

Oh, fig leaves do some lovely maternity bikinis and tankinis.

PrincessKitKat · 02/09/2013 11:10

I would love to go about then (pics of bump abroad!), but that takes us into December which is silly season at DHs work.
Thanks for the tip - gig leaves are always sending me discount emails which I immediately delete so I will definitely take a look!

I went abroad at 24 weeks and it was a lovely time for me to go, bump still nice and neat and not too uncomfortable. It was before the 27/28 week deadline where you have to get a 'fit to fly' note from your midwife or GP. I'm now 30+1 and wouldn't like to go anywhere as I'm starting to get to the 'I can't bend down' stage!

I also went to Barcelona on a 3 day city break at 11 weeks and London at 20 weeks in this pregnancy (all these holidays were booked before my BFP, thinking I was never going to get a BFP!!) and I felt good too, but I have been quite lucky with my energy levels so far and I know not everyone will feel the same.

I think as long as you have got past sickness go for it, I was on hol last month were I found out I was pregnant so only early thank god I didn't go around this time as I feel shockingly awful. I plan to have a mini break in november around 20weeks this is getting my through how rubbish I feel. I think you should go for it around the 20 mark have loads of free fun for the last time:D and while you on hol you can picture the lovely holidays you can have with you child once born that's what I do it cheers me up

greentshirt · 02/09/2013 17:59

Oh I'm glad everyone thinks 20 weeks is a good time to go, I have got frickking loads booked trying to jam life in before we started trying after Xmas. Didn't quite work out that way and now I'll be going to Cyprus at 10+2 (worried about sunbathing situ), Poland at 14+4 (no drinking at a mainly vodka based wedding) and New York at bang on 20 weeks (worried about flying long haul)

I know it's not ideal but can't cancel any if it now so just want to get it all done then I can relax and start planning for baby to arrive (when no doubt I'll be gagging for a holiday so will be glad I went!)

PrincessKitKat · 02/09/2013 18:20

Grin vodka based wedding!
I have one too in November, I love weddings but it's going to be torture watching everyone else on the complementary drinks!!

Apparently there will be nothing else to drink but vodka, everyone will be a mess and i'll probably be fuming lol

Kimmy1986 · 03/09/2013 13:04

Im actually sitting by the pool In Tunisia as I type this, 24+1 and I'm
Sooooo glad we did it, I'm due couple of days before Xmas and I feel like the timing has been perfect, means when I get back I can start getting organised for him coming.

Other plus points are, I'm still at a comfortable size for old holiday clothes, the flight wasn't uncomfortable, I feel really good so eating hasnt been an issue. The only bad thing is I can't lie on my tummy so the backs of my legs are still white, ha ha!

Defo go in October, you won't regret it! Grin

Kimmy1986 · 03/09/2013 13:06

It's also hard watching everyone else enjoy the all inclusive cocktails but at least I'm not hungover in the heat, haha!

Sleepthief · 03/09/2013 13:39

Just try to avoid the early sickness months. I don't think I'lk ever be able to go back to Turkey (9-10 weeks pregnant with DS2) because it just reminds me of feeling like shit Sad

MummyJetsetter · 03/09/2013 13:44

I'd say around the middle so the sicky bit is hopefully over and you have some energy. And better to have a pregnant looking tummy in a bikini than a slightly chubby looking one! I went away at 18 weeks and looked definitely pregnant but a few weeks earlier was a bit soft still! Flaunt it, everyone likes a nice round belly! x

StormBird · 03/09/2013 14:29

I'm off on my Jolly's next week - I'll be 30 weeks PG! with a toddler in tow! I'm probably crazy but I'm really looking forward to it. 2 weeks in the sunshine....bliss....however pregnant you are!

Having said that the bastard robbing dr's are charging me 30 quid for a fit to fly note!!!!

Have fun and relax whatever you decide :)

MummyJetsetter · 03/09/2013 14:42

Oh yeah I went at 31 weeks with ds1 and the doc charged me £25 then when I got to check in they said I didn't need it!
