V painful nipples in cold

Hello, I'm only 16 weeks but am getting crazy painful nipples in these early cold mornings. I could cry with the pain

Any ideas on what to do to help it? Wooly bra warmers?!

Not due until feb so no idea how il cone I the snow brrrrr

I'm 15 weeks and had this problem but since I started wearing a sleep bra at night my nipple tenderness seems to have calmed down. Don't know if it's just coincidence though - first pregnancy so really just muddling along.

Do you have Raynauds syndrome in your fingers? Usually women who have that have the same issue in their nipples

Oh god I remember that with DS1, standing in the middle of the supermarket crying because they hurt so much! I would tuck my scarf inside my bra to try and keep them warm and always wore a gilet to make sure they were well insulated .

If it makes you feel any better I seem to remember it wearing off about the same time as the morning sickness, which was about where you are now. Congratulations though!

I got this terribly - used to make me cry and if I went out for a walk / run in the cold my DH would find me hunched over holding my boobs til the worst of the pain went! Nothing really helped but it went away sometime at the end of the first trimester

Thanks everyone. I do have mild raynauds but my dad and sister have it severely so this might be my version! It just came on these past couple of weeks.

Is there anything I can do for it. Will try the sleep bra, thanks.

Aggggh I had this in the first few months of pregnancy and it made me feel so nauseous, I cried! I'd try some nipple cream with lanolin in it, and also maybe a hot water bottle? (Not applied directly to the skin, obvs...)

Other than that, unless your bathroom is toasty warm then try and bundle up in a towel as soon as you step out of the shower/bath (don't let the cold air get to them!), and have your towel ready-warmed on the radiator if poss.

I like the cheap-ish Mothercare nursing sleep bras (nice and soft, like crop tops, and no painful seams running over the nipples). Good luck!

If it continues to be a problem, maybe try putting some fabric (reusable, I mean) breastpads in your bra? I had horribly painful nipples when pg with DD1 (born in January!) and the breastpads seemed to help and were quite discreet. And they came in handy after she was born too - win win!

It was not as bad as getting thrush in my nipples when pg with DD2... if I could have scratched those buggers off, I would have! You just can't scratch your nipples discreetly (don't worry, this happened because I had appendicitis and was given shedloads of anibiotics, so unlikely to happen to you)

Got any of those gel hand warmer s? I use those when mine hurt. I was in agony on Friday when my nips got cold and I scratched them coz they were itching. The pain was like banging your fingers when you've been playing in the snow. Tucked some hand warmer s down my bra and problem solved!

God I had that at your stage, it was bloody awful. Like someone was trying to hack my nipples off with broken glass! Couldn't set foot in a supermarket, they were just too cold. They're much better now but maybe because the weather has warmed up? I used to cuddle a hot water bottle but I did look up some fleecy bra inserts which looked just the job

I get this occasionally and as weird as it sounds I find taking my bra off helps. My nipples hurt from the cold but being forced against the fabric of my bra makes it so much worse so I take my bra off put my dressing gown on and bundle up tight, if its really cold I get my hands in there as well! Usually feel a lot better within about 15 minutes though I admit this isn't really an option unless I'm home! The hand warmers are a great idea though!
