A couple of people have recommended this to me, and other ways of relaxing/keeping calm during the birth. A friend thinks it made a real difference to her experience. Just wondered if anyone can offer any tips or ways of doing it without spending lots of money?

Buy the natal hypnotherapy CD - and speak to your midwife as some trusts have started offering hypnobirthing sessions!

If you are in the North West, there's a company that does classes for nothing.

Last time I used a book from the library and arrived at hospital fully dilated, ready to push, and still as calm and painfree as most women at 3cm. That's supposedly typical for hypno.

I am using the natal hypnotherapy cds and have read the book that goes with them.... I am enjoying the relaxation and its nice to have some time set aside each day to really connect with my baby. I thought that i have nothing to lose by trying it! If it helps then great... if it doesn't, then i have lost nothing and gained some valuable 'me' time during my pregnancy :) and some nice naps lol

Thanks all, I've found this CD so thinking of getting it www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-Birth-Preparation-Hospital-Centre/dp/1905220502/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1378066376&sr=1-1&keywords=natal+hypnotherapy
Wonder if this CD will be enough on its own as the other pack I saw was about £40?
Will also speak to midwife and ask. I agree there's nothing to lose and as two people I know have sworn by it, it's worth a try!

I had that cd and also the book which is £8.99 on there. The book was mostly success stories though so if you have every confidence that it will work for you then it may be a bit of a waste.
