Can you tell how your baby is positioned? I certainly can't!

34 weeks and I get movement/kicks everywhere. Lumps and bumps appear randomly all over my bump. This is DC2 but last time I had an anterior placenta so this time it feels oh so different. I've a MW app next week so I'll find out then, but always intrigued when people say how the baby is lying!

There is a website called spinning babies where they give an idea how to work out what way baby lies. I am on DC3 and have no idea with this one at all

Excited85 · 31/08/2013 12:50

I have no idea!! People keep asking me and lots of my friends that aren't as far along know how theirs are but my midwife won't say until 36 weeks, apparently is protocol now. Like you op I get lumps and bumps and pokes all over!!!

neversleepagain · 31/08/2013 12:58

I could tell the position of my twins when I was pregnant from about 20 weeks onward. The sonographers were always amused that I could make out which legs belonged to which twin and which way round they were Grin

nextphase · 31/08/2013 13:01

nope. I could never tell.
Never understood people who got hicuping babies either.

But then I had 2 anterior placentas, which sounds like it affects things.

Only when she sticks her bum right out! I can tell when she's partially engaged though. She keeps engaging a bit, then coming back up. I'm generally a lot more comfortable when she's up.

nickelbabe · 31/08/2013 13:08

i couldn't.

i have a MW friend and when I was 37 weeks, I got her to check me - on the floor of the tower room at church! Grin

(it was carpetted)

I can always tell towards the end. I'm 30 weeks now and know the head is near my right rib because I feel head movements like a shake of the head side to side. With my other two, I use to feel a boney bum near my right rib that popped out slowly and occasionally moved towards the middle rather than move side to side.

Ezza1 · 31/08/2013 14:08

Nope, not a clue at 37 weeks with DC4 Grin

onlysettleforbutterflies · 31/08/2013 14:17

I could never tell either, people used to ask where his bum etc was, I had no idea whatsoever.

vj32 · 31/08/2013 18:23

I could because DS spent months over on one side so much bump looked really uneven.

Excited2meetmyprincess · 31/08/2013 19:08

Not a clue! My midwife told me and showed me but I wouldn't know otherwise haha x

wickedwitchNE · 31/08/2013 19:22

I am only 25w and my DP can already tell Hmm

wickedwitchNE · 31/08/2013 19:24

The Hmm is at him btw! It's not his first child tbf but still, very annoying that he can apparently tell exact positions and I can't even. distinguish limbs when they 'kick'.

5madthings · 31/08/2013 19:32

Yep I could tell, small bump but big baby each time so I could feel head/ bum, legs etc.

It was harder with dd as my placenta was at the front and she was a bit smaller but I could still feel what position she was.
