Realistically is 35 too late to plan for my third child?

I have DS who is 2.4 and DD who is 21 weeks. I have had quite bad PND after both babies and once I'm (hopefully) over this bout I'd like to have a third child (if we're lucky enough to be able to conceive). However I feel like my body needs a bit of a rest and would like to wait until DD is at school before we tried for #3 by which point i'll be 35. Is this realistic? Anyone else with two reasonably close in age and then a larger gap?

striped
why thank you! Wink

so are you convinced it's doable? have you decided what to do?

I was 37 when I had DC4. Considered DC5 before 42 but couldn't bear to be getting on for 50 and still not left the infants playground.

35 is no age for DC3, or DC1 for that matter. Good luck Smile

The worry is nobody knows what their fertility is like until they try. I'm 36 and pregnant with dc 1, which took precisely 1 shag to conceive. I'm lucky, but not that unusual I don't think. I'm also a million times healthier, mentally and physically, than I was in my 20s and early 30s; I would have struggled massively with pregnancy a few years ago.

I'm also 5 years younger than my brother and sister, who are two years apart. I always got on better with both of them than they got on with each other, I think this was because there was less rivalry due to the bigger age gap.

I hope not! I'm expecting my first DC in a few weeks at 32 yrs old and I really want three children, so if I'm looking at having roughly 2 years between them, I'll be 36 having my third.

I was 35 with DD1 and will be 37 for DC2. Nothing is guaranteed with conception, but actually it was quicker the second time around. I would have waited for a larger gap had I been younger.

I think 35 is not old at all, especially if it's your third (I think it's easier to conceive but that could be anecdotal). It's important to consider your health and you're right to give yourself some time before TTC again.

I had my first at 35 and second at 37 - to be fair there are massive regional differences in the age norm. I live in London and feel totally average age wise, but when I go to baby things out of London I am ten years older than mums with similar aged kids - I'm sure it would affect my thinking if that's what I saw all day!

should say 'will have second' am still pg and still 36 :)
