Breech c-section

Found out today that baby is breech, I'm 36+3. Midwife doesn't think baby will turn by himself. I have an appt for ECV on the 9th, not sure if I'm going to go through with it yet! I am so upset that the labour I imagined won't be happening, we are going to miss the whole surprise element and the getting to hospital etc. I am really worried about recovery, I'm pretty healthy- age27 normal weight is about 9st 7 lbs. I am worried I won't be able to do anything, like make bottles, bath and dress baby, my husband will take three weeks off work but I just want to be able to do things. How did you recover after a c-section?

Thanks all

Just thought I would offer a small ray of hope. I'm 37+4 and just had an ecv. It worked and honestly was not painful. Have now been told to go home and wait for labour to start as normal. Good luck!

I'm having my 5th c-section in 5 weeks. Don't worry chances are you will be fine. There is only a year between my older 3 children so I had 2 toddlers to look after as well as a newborn and coped fine.

You will be fine! It's a calm and controlled experience and for me recovery was fast & fine.
I was walking my ds1 (also a breach c section baby) to school pushing my c section babies pram 2 weeks after as I had no one to take him. It was January, Gale force winds and snow blowing in my face!
That fresh air was Devine tbh.

Hubby had to go back to work so I had to get on with it, so you do, and you will too.

You will be given painkillers so minimal pain.
You will be fine, honestly.

you never know i was having a planned section for my breech and went into labour so you may still get that element of surprise OP Grin

had two CS, both breech. first one (falied ECV as footling so ELCS) recovery was fine - far easier than my VB. the last one (EMCS) - well 9 weeks on and im just starting to feel a bit better. but thats just me, and this time round it was slightly less straightforward for me and i've been trying to entertain my two other DCs.

you will have help, you will be fine. you will manage by yourself anyway - you will change, feed and dress your baby just like everyone else!. just take it easy if your body tells you to and give yourself time to recover properly. it is surgery after all.

i take it youve tried th spinning babies website, moxi sticks etc etc? fingers crossed it all works out for you and good luck with the baby Smile

Thanks all. I am going to try all the spinning techniques - worth a shot right, and maybe there will be a good chance of turning him at the hospital. They said they will tell me the likelihood of it working before doing it. Slowly getting my head around it now, was just a big shock today! Hopefully recovery will be quick. Single parents have to do it so I'm sure ill be fine...... Hopefully
