Stitch like pains across side of bump when walking

I'm 30+5 and over the last few days have been getting a stitch like pain across the right side of my bump when walking - I'm assuming this is ligament pains, and after resting it does seem to dissipate - is this something I should be worrying about, or is it just one of those things you have to grin and bear? ;-)

I have exact same. Its ligament damage. Just rest as much as possible and it will get better. Stock up on paracetamols too and make sure u find a comfy sleeping position :), if they get really unbearable (i broke down in tears the other.day in the middle of asda) then call labor ward and they will monitor u and give u stronger pain relief. If mine get any worse i have to be admitted to hosp for bed rest so fingers crossed they get better for u x

I had these from around the same time. I found they stayed pretty constant and didn't get worse (luckily) if I slowed my pace and was careful about bending and lifting, getting on and off buses and in and out of cars and stuff.

Bun is right about finding a comfortable sleeping position. Pillow between the knees has been essential for me for ages!

Hope you feel better.

I've been getting these really badly when I walk but I'm only 23 weeks!! This is my 3rd preg and dc1 was an emcs, dc2 vbac so not sure if it is scar linked??
Also have noticed Braxton hicks worse/ stronger/ more often and earlier this time.

I've had this in both pregnancies. Was bloody awful, only went if I layed down. Had CS for both so not scar related, happened much earlier with my 2nd. Was probably my most debilitating pregnancy ishoo. It did go as soon as the babies were out. I mentioned it several times in both pregnancies and was never given any answers or treatment, even in my 2nd consultant lead pregnancy.

I am 27wks and have been getting these the past couple of days. Have my 28 week apt on wed so going to ask the mw about it then. Exactly the same thing stitch feeling on the right hand side. Glad I'm not the only one getting this...prob means its normal.

BigKicker · 29/08/2013 22:40

I'm 30 weeks and have been getting the exact same pain. I asked gp about it yesterday and it is normal due to ligaments stretching. Mine goes away if I slow down or stop walking for a bit. Gp suggested swimming to help with pain.

I get this in the night sometimes. Had it really bad once where I couldn't even roll over to get out of bed. Rang midwife after that horrible night and she said it's completely normal and to expect it to get worse but it has actually improved thankfully! x

Im only 26 weeks and get this after walking a while! I also get stretching pains at the side like my muscles are gonna rip open or something its horrible!

I'm 20+3 and have had the same - stitch like pain on the rh side of my bump - over the last week or so, it stops completely as soon as I stand still so I figured it was something to do with ligaments. Funny because on the weekend I went for a mega 2 hr coastal walk and was fine! It seems to happen when I just go for a short walk - I was thinking it might be to do with stride length as I seem to walk faster on a short walk. Having anomaly scan this week so hopefully will see if any real problem is responsible.

I'm 26 weeks and have been getting this for a few weeks now, if I walk to quickly when I'm rushing about or if I walk for a long time (also after about 2 mins of Sex, sorry TMI). Its actually pretty painful but seems to ease if I rest so I'm presuming its just one of those things. Feels quite defferent to the ligament pain I had early on.

lovelylentils I am exactly the same as you!
Went to consultant midwife to talk about the birth and happened to ask her about this. She said that it is ligament pain and your body telling you to slow down or stop.
I lie on my side in bed and tuck my duvet under the bump. That is very comfy!

schmalex · 16/09/2013 17:13

I had this with my first preg and found that one of those bump support belts helped.
