Stupid question - what does a kick feel like

I'm 21 weeks with my first and haven't been getting a lot of movement yet. Plenty of fluttering but not proper kicks. For the last couple of days I've been getting a twitching feeling in my lower abdomen, happened once on Saturday and has been getting more regular since, husband can also feel it. I'm assuming this is the baby kicking but it doesn't seem to move much, always feel it in pretty much the same place.

At my 20 week scan last week I was told my baby was measuring small, not worrying small just the lower end of normal. I'm also on the big side (size 18 per pregnancy) so I know that movements will take longer to be really noticeable but it's getting really difficult not to worry about how few 'obvious' kicks I'm feeling. Does this twitching sound like little kicks to anyone?

Twitching could be hiccups. If you're bigger I think you feel the movement less, ditto if your placenta is anterior. Sometimes the movements feel like wind, and sometimes they feel like your DH has just kicked you in the ribs. Mine got the blame many times! In my first pregnancy I didn't really notice much movement before 22 weeks (and I was pretty small with a posterior placenta). 2nd time round I knew what to expect and had felt definite movements by 16 weeks.

I found a really nice way to watch for movement was to lie very still in the bath and watch for the water moving, like the cup in Jurassic Park when the T-Rex is approaching.

Mine were very twitch like at the beginning and still don't get massively strong ones on outside but can feel it a lot on the inside. Think this is due to anterior placenta tho x

like twitching and sometimes like another very irregular heatbeat.

I first felt DD kick me when I was lying on my tummy and it was like a little beat they gradually, for me, got stronger until it was like a mule in there

At 23 weeks mine still feel like a muscle twitch but more powerful than the ones from about 20 weeks. I can now feel them outside of my stomach too and so can DP. I was a size 16 pre pregnancy.

with my first preg, the movements felt like tiny bubbles gently bursting in your your tummy. I was wondering what it was when someone told me! Nice feeling really, even nicer knowing -what- it was :)
