Hi, had to go into hospital over the weekend as had some brown discharge. Im just over 26 weeks. Baby is fine and cervix is closed. They took swabs to check for infection. It seemed to settle then I had some more this morning after having a bowl movement. Hospital said to ring back if it continues and is red. The results of the swabs haven't come back yet. I have managed to get myself in abit of a state with worry tbh. I had an erosiin on my cervix last pregnancy but started bleeding at 30 weeks and baby did come early and was fine. Any advice?

Hi Soap, I probably can't say much to help but just wanted to offer some support. It may well be that the strain of opening your bowels just caused some more old blood to fall out? Or was it fresh blood? And was it that you noticed blood in the toilet or on the tissue paper? Or in your underwear some time after you'd been to the toilet?

Have you rang the hospital? Xx

Hi it was on the paper Tge hospital said to call back if it continues or turns red.

And has there been anymore after that incident this morning?

Now, i know we don't poo through our vaginas but hopefully it is just some residual old blood sliding out due to the downwards strain of opening your bowels.

It may still be worth calling your hospital though just for reassurance based on your history?

Hospial said to call back if it continues which thankfully it hasn't. Just waiting for the swab results to come back in case there is any infection. They did not seem concerned. This pregnancy is going to age me significantly.

Well I hope the bleeding doesn't restart and at least if it is an infection it is something that can be sorted. Take it as a good sign if the hospital weren't too concerned. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

I had some discharge and bleeding along with contractions at 24 weeks and had to stay in hospital but now nearly 28 weeks and all seems fine.
I know how scary it is though and no matter what we say you will worry (I still do) but I'm sure you will be fine and you have done the best thing getting to the hospital and being checked out. If they were worried they would keep you there.
Good luck and hope all is well xxx

I had something similar (ish) at 26 weeks except mine was fresh red blood about a teaspoon but stopped as soon as I got to hospital to get checked out. I then had brownish discharge for nearly 48 hours. They said you often get little bleeds like this at around 25/26 weeks and it could be cos the uterus is expanding? the registrar didn't seem too concerned BUT cos I have a low lying placenta I had a scan to check my placenta and had to be kept in for 24 hours for observations in case it was my placenta. I read in one of those pregnancy books that a little bleed in 2nd and 3rd trimester is quite common but its always best to get checked out. I felt a bit better once I read that it wasn't just me!

Thank you for the replies it seems to have settled for now. Interesting about the growth theory my bump has grown alot recently and measuring two weeks ahead so hopefully its that.
