I'm booked in for a c section on 1st Oct, date has been booked in for about 5/6 weeks. Already have DD who we have organised childcare for (overnight childminder and day care on the day). Have had a call this morning from the hospital asking me if i could move to a later date so someone else can take my slot. Have spoken to childcare but they cant accommodate DD so would mean I wouldn't have DH with me. I told the hospital id call them back to confirm - do you think I could call back to say I can't switch?! Hormones all over the place so I've been crying for the last 20 mins Blush which is more mad as obviously I know I could go in to labour earlier!!

I think you should tell them you can't change. You have tried to rearrange your childcare and are not able to. It's not right that you'd have to go alone without your DH! Good luck and you're not being hormonal, it's entirely reasonable to want your DH there!

I agree, don't switch!
You've tried to accommodate, but it's not possible.
I'm sure your DH wouldn't want a; you to be alone or b; to miss his baby being born!

Thanks ladies. I'm going to call back now - im such a wannabe people pleaser and constantly second guessing myself at the moment. Crazy I know.

Not a chance I would change if it meant DH missing the birth. Just tell them you can't do it xx

HeffalumpTheFlump · 27/08/2013 12:50

Nope I wouldn't change either. There will be someone else who is able to be more flexible that they can ask. I'd be devastated if dh couldn't be there, so it wouldn't be an option.

You should be aware though that you might be given an early time slot bu might have to wait on the day if other emergencies come up. I was booked in for 830 but didn't get out of theatre til 430 in the afternoon because of one thing or another. They don't always stick to the plan!

Thanks all. Just an update - they have said they'll leave it as it is "for now". They are currently only doing one ELCS daily so they may come back to me. We have booked overnight childcare up to 6pm on the day. DH will either collect DD earlier and bring her to the hospital or DSis will collect her at 6pm if needed as she has planned to come and visit overnight and booked the following morning off work.

Thank you for the help ladies - without it I just know I would have said yes and bwen miserable
