MW can't find my baby's head!!!

Am 38+4 today, last week baby was head 1/5 engaged (4/5 palpable) and bum to the top right... this week she can't feel anything down low that feels like a head. But neither can she feel anything up high that feels like a head Confused

So, either he's turned breech, or he's fully engaged and what she's feeling down low is shoulders. Got a scan tomorrow to see. If he's breech it'll be ECV or ELCS pretty soon.

What I'm wondering is whether anybody else has experience of being fully engaged but not really feeling that 'bowling ball between the legs' feeling?
OR.. has anybody had a breech baby but still felt the kicks towards the side or top of the bump (I've no kicks down low and haven't had since about 27wks).

I've got that exactly they scanned me at 34 weeks, as they couldn't tell if the hard bit up high was his bum or his head and they could feel nothing down low. It was his bum up high and I'm 38wks now head fully engaged, and can't be felt at all and pressumably full sized.

I can't tell at all - no pressure/pain down stairs, no bowling ball feeling etc. I guess its just one of those things, fingerscrossed for you that yours is the same Smile

oh wow purplemurple - that's exactly the outcome i'm hoping for!

finger's crossed!!!

I had this and sorry to say, the upshot was an 'unstable lie'. DD moved back up to be transverse, breech, you name it, and I had a Caesarean.

Did you try an ECV eldritch? Or was the baby just too mobile?

She was pinging about like a mad thing (and has never stopped). Even the docs were amused. The scan on the labour ward was quite dramatic.

It all came about because I was supposed to be being induced because I am ancient, and had had the pessary already as another midwife had decided (possibly correctly, at the time she examined me) that DD was engaged.

Bless her, she's like a flower fairy on crystal meth.

awww... sounds great :)

Did you feel a lot of movement in pregnancy?

I don't feel very much at all, but have an anterior placenta so that might be why...

Excellent description Eldritch that really made me laugh.

I couldn't feel DS's head until I was crowning I had a very fast delivery (7 minutes) so I don't know if that was why as labour was quite short too with no signs until my waters broke.

I'm having a similar problem ds3 moves about like crazy I also have an anterior placenta so it's hard to work out what is what - I had a 3d scan at 34 weeks and baby was a frank breech head under ribs feet under ribs ( so no great pics just hands and feet covering face)I had midwifes appointment the next day and she swears he's head down! But she was not having a good day as she was running behind and forgot she'd dipped my sample then got confused with the lie she thought back was on left and its on the right! She had to admit she was wrong when there was no heartbeat on that side!- shes very experienced this is my 3rd baby with her!) There was no major movement just him doing his constant octopus impression! But there is no obvious head at top or bottom due to feet and hands etc - I have another appointment on Wednesday 36wks so ill see what she says but it's v off putting!

I didn't have an anterior placenta, though I still didn't feel her much until late on. DD was a neat little baby in a very big bump. But after about 34 weeks she was usually transverse (when she wasn't flipping over), which was not at all comfortable for me.

Head found!

Very deep in pelvis.. :)

MW was feeling a shoulder at the bottom yesterday. And he doesn't seem to be moving anywhere from where he is now. Very pleased :)
