Weight loss due to sickness

Would a 9lb loss in 2 weeks due to morning sickness worry you? I've got a high bmi anyway so have cleared it with the midwife that I can lose weight at a sensible rate by eating a healthy balanced diet. However I've dropped 2lbs in 2 days because I just can't stand to eat much. I know baby will take what they need first so its me that's likely to suffer just not sure if I should be mentioning it at my next appt.

I think even with a high BMI you should speak to your midwife about that weightloss. Pregnancy is not the time to try and lose weight. I did lose about 4 pounds in my first few weeks of pregnancy due to the sickness but that was over about 4 weeks.

Try to snack of plain crackers, rice or pasta. Starchy easy to eat. Did your midwife give yo a mobile number? You can always just call and ask what they think?

I've got my proper booking in appointment on Wednesday so I'll mention it then, I'm 10wks now so hoping the sickness will ease off soon but I know it went on until I was 16wks with ds2.

Once the sickness has gone I won't be actively trying to lose weight but I am going to be switching to a healthy diet as being pregnant again was the wake up call I needed to start eating a healthier diet.

Glad its not just me that thinks its not normal.

Check with your midwife, definitely, but I dropped two dress sizes (16 to a 12/10) in 6 weeks in early pregnancy with severe HG. I was carrying twins and was really worried about it, but nobody else was that bothered! My boys were both fine, and a good weight for twins born at 36+6. I kept the weight off by bfing for 12months, but have sadly put it all back on now.....

Hi thecake congrats on your pregnancy.

If it helps, I lost 5kg in 6 weeks, mainly as I couldn't bear carbs! I have started gaining again since 14-15 weeks, and mw was unbothered by my weight loss (I was a 32BMI to begin with, so wasn't like I didn't have it to lose!)
Basically, the nutrition needed for the baby is minute right now; if you imagine that when born, the baby will have a stomach the size of a marble and holds 5-7ml, so it's probably not starving right now!
