I paid for a scan friday 23 aug i was 7 weeks pregnant and worried as i was bleeding and having clots on 22nd aug ive been referred to have checks as they couldn't find anything on my scan they think i may have an ectopic pregnancy/ blood clot or very early pregnancy. However ive been reading about a retroverted uterus and it says that you cannot pick up a sac on an ultrasound until 10-12 weeks and that other people have had same things happen to them and referred for the same things. Has anyone had this happen to them and went on to have a healthy pregnancy??

Hi!
I have a retro edges uterus and it meant that at my 7 weeks scan they had to do a tranvaginal one rather than just through the tummy to see the sac. Did they do that with you?

Totesamazeballs · 26/08/2013 18:40

Retroverted...sorry...bloody auto correct

asandwichshort · 26/08/2013 18:45

Same for me!! Every bloody time they had to bring out the dildo transvaginal one. If you haven't had that , then I think you need to see if you can arrange it. Good luck

I have a retroverted uterus, and by 7+4 it was possible to see baby and heartbeat, sounds like your dates could be wrong?

TittyBojangles · 26/08/2013 19:15

I agree it should be a tv scan at this stage. Do you mean they didn't see a yolk sac or didn't see a preg sac at all, I presume preg sac as you said they were worried about ectopic. If your dates are a little out and they didn't do a tv scan then this is entirely possible. When are you being scanned again?

I had an early scan with DS1, with a retroverted uterus. They just had to do it transvaginally.

If they're nice, they'll warm it up first!

Yeah i had a transvaginal scan and they couldnt see a sac at all but the was this like blob on the screen and she couldnt tell whether it was an early pregnancy or a blood clot or a ectopic pregnancy, my lmp was 4th july but theyve been all over the place tbh so im not entirely sure how far i actually am but from that date im 7 weeks

Well my LMP is 2 July but in my scan last week she said baby measured 6 weeks when it's 7 from LMP so it could be that you ovulated late and you aren't as far along as you think? Sonobrapher found it hard to measure my bean be ause of its position but we could see a heartbeat. Are you having a rescan? I have been told to return on Saturday.

When will you get the blood results back?

willitbe · 29/08/2013 01:44

I had transvaginal scan at 7+3 and retroverted uterus, they could see something that looked like a small less than 5 week sac. I was sure of dates.

My dates were confirmed as accurate at scan 2 weeks later when heartbeat was also seen. Resulted in my now 8 year old daughter.

It is fairly common for early scans with tilted uterus to measure up to 2 weeks behind true dates.

princesscupcakemummyb · 29/08/2013 12:00

hello i had a early scan via transvag and they said my uterus is tilted so does make it harder but still saw what was needed to be seen Smile

pinkpeoniesplease · 29/08/2013 16:54

I had an extremely retroverted uterus but saw the baby and heartbeat via transvaginal scan at 7+2.

della90 · 01/09/2013 15:18

Willitbe- yeah they said that what they had found looked like an earlier sac than what i actually am suppose to be
