Little embarrassing but as the title says my bits are rather swollen!! Confused it seems to have started at the same time my hands have feet have started to swell.

I've heard this can be a normal part of pregnancy?

Is there anything I can do about it?

I don't think it's thrush as I've had swelling from thrush in the past which normally only happens after sex. I also got told by my doctor to wait until the baby is born to treat thrush if I get it again as it doesn't seem to be clearing whilst I'm pregnant! Hmm Although I don't feel like its thrush!

Is there anything I can do to stop the swelling? I'm worried I'll go for a sweep or go into labour and be examined and a midwife will comment! I'd feel so embarrassed! Shock

What are your thoughts? Smile

I have heard the same. Even heard of varicose veins in labiae due to pregnancy. Can you call your midwife or consultant to see if they need to see you for it?

Has baby head dropped? Sounds odd but with the extra 'bulk' of a head there it can 'displace' the skin / fluid down there! - I'm trying to be delicate! But as I remember as head went with me there was definite swelling at the front! After birth it's pretty swollen to but I've had 2 with no 'damage' so I assume it didn't stop anything!! You could always ask your mw but I don't think they'd be indiscreet enough to comment I'm sure they've seen more horrific sights than a swollen lady garden!!

I swelled up down below at about 32w and MW said it sounded fine but if I was concerned the dr would have to check, he never buy all was fine

Have you seen your mw about hands and feet swelling? That can be a sign of high blood pressure. But they have seen worse before (remember they check stitches after birth) so won't be bothered by it visually, other than as a symptom of thrush/high bp

Yeah my babies head has dropped very recently so that could be why! That would make a lot of sense really. I'm not particularly itchy but i am swollen and sore!
It doesn't look too great down there haha Confused

I will ring midwife tomorrow just to check what she thinks!
I've been fortunate enough to have no problems with blood pressure so far, but I will get that checked too, wouldn't like to risk any problems!
